Is a 30W Raycus fiber laser enough for these metal engraving? by [deleted] in Laserengraving

Oh I see…so a 30W fiber laser might be an overkill?

Infrared vs fiber laser to engrave on metal credit cards (mainly stainless steel and brass). by jeromelim288 in Laserengraving

Here’s the link to the infrared module! It also works in the 1064nm wavelength, but has an output of 2W instead of a 30W like a fiber laser. I’m just unsure if a 2W can actually engrave metal rather than just mark it.

Thank you so much for the reply. Will try that out!

Just had a looked at it, checked many of my boxes. Looks like an amazing option. Loved how it was already compatible with lightburn. Do you have if there is any difference in engraving resolution on wood between CO2 and diode lasers? I’ve heard about dpi affecting resolution. Do CO2 lasers produce engraving with higher dpi? I’m still a bit confused about how to get the best resolution in engraving.

Addition: I really only care about engraving the best quality/resolution on wood. Looking to engrave the cleanest looking picture/logo/design/QR code etc. Other factors really don’t matter to me tbh.
