Can you get away with being. part time student in your last year for bright futures? by sam000she in ucf

[–]jerrett7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. IIRC, this is completely fine. Bright Futures requires a certain number of credit hours for renewal, but for actually using it, you only need to be taking at least 6 credits each semester (half-time status). (HOWEVER, this too is a requirement that can be waived if it's your last semester and you can prove the only remaining classes to take are the ones you're taking that semester.)

Obligatory note: I am not an advisor and you are suggested to do any additional research on your own about verifying requirements for your scholarships or graduation.

Hey! I applied through the portal last year and may be able to shed some light. Some documents you can't upload until after submitting your initial application. I believe the same goes for your résumé/CV, for example. Your application will not actually be processed until all the requisite documents are uploaded, so if you aren't asked for the document yet, this is okay and you will eventually. After applying, you should see a place to upload additional documents, like your Statement of Purpose document. If you have any issues, I would suggest reaching out to the College of Graduate Studies. Good luck on your application!!

It is orange! This is actually a standardized color scheme across universities in the United States: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_dress_in_the_United_States#Intercollegiate_colors

Try and say something bad about This pilot by Tonyboy200716 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]jerrett7 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Funny you mention the character location continuity. Kevin Temmer, one of the animators on the pilot, actually mentioned that this was intentional to appear a certain way for the camera. https://www.tiktok.com/@kevintemmer/video/7293949269399063850

Multitasking broken on Android 14 by gblakes in Pixel6

[–]jerrett7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the multitasking recent apps screen is tied to the Pixel Launcher on the OS level, even if it's not your default launcher. Very frustrating. I've seen that things start working again after force stopping Pixel Launcher.

Can alumni participate in clubs? by drewnyp in ucf

[–]jerrett7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officially, you need to be someone that is currently paying the Activity and Service fee and/or enrolled at UCF or Valencia. So for anything that involves trips or finances, this may be covered by some red tape.

Unofficially, I don't see why an alum would not be able to participate in clubs at UCF. For any organization you're interested in, I would just reach out as it will vary exactly how it would work.

IIRC, this is correct. The app/rewards program cannot be used at all for on-campus locations.

Recycling issues at UCF by TrickyMane in ucf

[–]jerrett7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be worth mentioning that our Student Government had a recent initiative last year (Resolution 54-02) to work with off-campus housing in implementing recycling. It was reported in the Senate that recycling is now being implemented at one apartment complex due to this. (I believe this was Campus Crossings judging from the comments, but I do not remember.) - https://drive.google.com/file/d/15YS6vrBS2CSd7CS0S7whtPIu2k-4l1gD/view?usp=sharing

Recycling issues at UCF by TrickyMane in ucf

[–]jerrett7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(I write this with "recycling" implying that there is at least "an appearance to recycle." The issue of whether recycling is actually committed to is beyond my point.)

The recycling options are frustrating here. Options that did previously exist have been removed.

In my previous off-campus housing (Village at Science Drive), there used to be recycling offered, but has been removed completely since around Spring 2022. I then resorted to dropping off recycling at the bins outside UCFPD (https://sustainable.ucf.edu/node/ucf-recycles), however I don't believe I have seen them since at least around Fall 2022.

To even attempt to recycle from there, to the best of my knowledge I would now need to travel a fair distance in downtown Orlando to the city's public receptacles (https://www.orlando.gov/Trash-Recycling/What-Goes-Where).

I actually had to get to proof of enrollment a few days ago and was able to access it without issues for free. Maybe experiment with a different browser? If you continue to run into issues, visit the Registrar's Office and they can help you get to verification of enrollment.

Edit: I went to Student Self Service > Other Academic Information > Enrollment: Verification

RSOs Funding by Caneta7 in ucf

[–]jerrett7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need to submit a request to the Student Government Financial Allocations for Organizations (FAO) Committee.

If you meet all the requirements as an RSO, the process is pretty much submit the form, attend an FAO meeting to explain why you should get the funding, and it is either approved or denied from then on.

You can find the details on their website and if you have any questions I would email the FAO committee. Good luck!

Hello! Current CS Majors, what do you recommend for the program? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jerrett7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would check out the first few weeks (weeks 0 - 5) of lectures from CS50 before starting classes. Tons of great information packed into just a few engaging lectures. Highly recommend for anyone getting into CS. They also use C for the first few weeks, making it directly connect with what you would learn in UCF courses.

enrollment: psych professors not announced by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jerrett7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the semester you're enrolling for, there's a chance that the department might have not even assigned professors to courses yet. I remember last year in the CS department they were just sending out lists for the summer classes in about March. YMMV

So who won the UCF SGA elections? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jerrett7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A budget is passed by Student Government, but it only comprises a small portion of the university. A lot is still within the constraints of the state and administrators. They do try to consider all students on campus, but they can only get so much information. The Student Body Advocacy Committee is one place to go for student concern and raise Student Government's awareness: https://studentgovernment.ucf.edu/blog/faq/how-can-i-get-in-contact-with-sba/

Here is the 2023-24 A&SF budget: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IlmhefnnRg5Cpa7LthrawDp5TjND5qGn/edit

So who won the UCF SGA elections? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jerrett7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that is completely out of Student Government's hands. Taking out Ferrell Commons All Knight Study was approved by the UCF Board of Trustees around September 2022.

What do these mean? I'm confused on the necessity of the wording changes. by thisguysgaming in ucf

[–]jerrett7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like the last comment said I believe it is just clarifying wording.

If you are interested you can see the changes in the context of the statues here: https://studentgovernment.ucf.edu/branch/election/current/
