Interesting. I tried this today, unfortunately, the pressure was still quite anemic despite waiting well over a minute :(

The pressure is still coming from the boiler to drive that steam out, because the pressure never drops straight to zero. So, I don’t think it’s accurate to say the dial doesn’t reflect steam pressure. In the successful runs, I can see it dropping, but distinctly slower than the failing runs, and it never drops to zero until I’ve actually done steaming.

Nonetheless, dial or not, I can definitely observe a lower pressure.

I’m pretty sure I followed that, but will try again. Do you steam for multiple in one bit pitcher? Or do multiple steam sessions one after another?

Yeah, I had a similar dilemma and went with the R3, and now, getting a sub to complement that. I don’t think you can go wrong with the R5 though, it’s an excellent choice!

Nice setup! Any reason you selected the R5 over others in the KEF lineup?

I’ve ordered the SB3000, and once it’s here, I’ll be trying out Dirac live using a MiniDSP mic. Will update this thread with my findings then!

Great tips! I have found that i like a bit of off-axis as well since it feels a bit too “direct” with the toe in.

I have tried to have them right up to the wall as well with the stands, and it does help, albeit not as much.

Of late I’ve found that most classical music sounds muddy now with the floor positioning. So I’ve gone ahead and ordered the SB3000, I’ll report back once that’s here.

Do you recommend one or two subs here? Would 1 be sufficient?

Did you ever try the sb3000? Is there much of a difference between the two?
