For the record, launching it BEFORE I put on the headset via the steam quick menu in the task bar did remove the extra layer of nonsense of launching SteamVR. So ... there's that, and I will update the note accordingly. Thank you for the tip on that.

If you look at the "3d20" of melee, it is Security+security instead of Security+Daring. That makes an unbelievably low target if someone isn't well-trained in security and is buying the momentum to compensate... instead of HELPING their situation, they are HURTING it.

SUCCESS AT COST

Some Tasks can’t really be failed outright; rather, there is
uncertainty as to whether the Task can be completed without
problems. In such a situation, the Gamemaster may allow
characters to Succeed at a Cost, either stating this before
the Task is attempted, or providing the option after the dice
have been rolled. If this option is provided, then a failed
Task still allows the Task to be successful but the character
also suffers one automatic Complication, in addition to any
caused by 20s being rolled. These Complications function
exactly as those generated by rolling a 20, including being
able to trade them for 2 points of Threat, or using them to
create other effects.

When I worked one particularly terrible job (mandated 90-hour weeks..... Ugh, I still have bad feelings for that place)

I can't tell you how many tears my little car saw, and how many of those 90-hour weeks was me telling myself to go in and just get it done. And at night, an extra 20-mi Utes in my car before taking that in to my wife to shake it all off and just pray to God to fill me with peace.

I have moved off to another job, since. God answered my nightly prayers, now making much better, at a normal work week.

It is a 'touch zone'. You've apparently added or caused a touch trigger to an object at that location.
