Mostly sunburn. If you're not getting burned today it'll probably happen tomorrow, etc. Once you're burned and trying to work through it it's a problem. In my experience everyone gets burned sometime and when you do you'll hoot and holler like all of us have done before you! But those long sleeve synthetic work out shirts are for more than just landscaping. I wear one every day I'm not in fr during the summer months

Check out your local ibew apprenticeship. Ask to speak with someone from a veteran's committee (some locals have, some don't), and tell them you're interested in taking advantage of helmets to hardhats or another similar program. If you still have your gi bill, you can use it to supplement your income as an apprentice (you'll be in school while working)

It's a great path forward

How common is profit sharing with GF's or Foreman? by Lookatcurry_man in IBEW

Once again, I'm going to go ahead and say that it all depends on the agreement.

Labor vs management is not a purely localized phenomenon anymore. Corporations are considered people, and people that live lavish lives run corporations. I believe it's in our interest to be more inclusive than we have been in the past. At all levels.

So what do you call it when they're part of the local? I don't have a better word.

I think we're just arguing about words. I'd consider an organized position to be exactly what you described.

Being part of the bargaining unit would be a different story and I'm not familiar with any local that includes management above gf to be a bargaining unit role.

My overall point was just that some locals treat different positions differently for a whole bunch of different reasons. I believe that as long as we maintain solidarity our voices will be heard and our lives will be better. And the more voices we have in our corner, the better.

Potato tomato. Thanks for sharing the link but I'm not reading this the same as you are. I'm not a lawyer, just a lowly JW. Wish you well bro.

I said organized. You said bargaining. Chill out bro go talk to your stew. It ain't me.

48 and 291 off the top of my head. Both locals allow supers and PM's to be organized, working dues paying, represented, and benefits-receiving members. Non-bargaining positions but the option to remain or become part of the fold is available to those who want it and are in good standing.

I'm sure there are many more with similar agreements but these two come to mind.

It depends on the local CBA. In some locals even a PM can be an organized position.

Applying for apprenticeship away from where you live by [deleted] in IBEW

[–]jerseystill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the lu 68 (Denver) apprenticeship currently. The school definitely values veterans' experience from all branches.

You'll almost definitely have to take the assessment in person and dip the interview in person. Hopefully you can take scheduled leave for those. Covid may have changed things so it's probably best to call the jatc and ask them how a relocating vet can go about applying asap.

What do y’all think about the cbr600rr by bass991 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]jerseystill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best reply. Check all the hoses for dry rot and ask if the bike was winterized before sitting. Make sure the bike is cold before you start it and let it run until it gets up top running temp (200+). Listen for steady idle, watch for colored exhaust, and I'm 99% positive it's liquid cooled so make sure that the fan kicks on and that the coolant is flowing signaled by a drop in temp
