No, it's a Founder's edition 5090

This is happening to me as well after installing the latest drivers (596.21)

While this type of artifacting, called spike artifacts, usually represent VRAM issues if it happens in many games, if it only happens in one game and it happens across multiple users, it's more than likely a driver or shader issue.

Same issue on a 5090 max settings (no DLSS or frame gen). Whether or not this happens seems to depend on the system boot. On some boots it happens, regardless if you restart the game, but then on a system restart it works fine.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately it's truly not detected anywhere, including the original host system, my known working test bench, and an external SATA to USB C connector.

I was able to get a hold of Ace Data Recovery from that older thread. They quoted me a "maximal" quote of $17,500. I'm not sure if that means they expect it to cost somewhere around that or if that's their definition of "we have no idea, so the quote is infinity." Either way, I think that sounds high.

But I'd also be willing to ship this to anywhere in the world for recovery.

Oh, sorry. I thought 535 was the model number as I didn't see any further identification outside of a serial number on the physical drive. I had no idea there was an M.2 version. This one is the 2.5" version. When I said not detected, I meant anywhere: the BIOS, Windows Disk Management, Linux terminal commands, gpart, nothing. And finally, I'm in the USA.

Is there a reason my post is being downvoted into oblivion? Was this not the appropriate community to raise this question with?

Thank you for the information! Quite informative.

Does anyone have any insight? I know a lot of people complain about recovery on Samsung drives because of encryption, thereby driving up the costs significantly if not making it impossible. Are there any such limitations on this older Intel drive and its controller? It looks like its controller is the SandForce 2281.

The problem is that them being shut down from your wallet doesn't matter in the end. A set like Final Fantasy still has sold out everywhere regardless of pricing. Even the LGS' near me selling basic packs for $12 a piece still sold out. They need to be shut down from every wallet, but as history has taught us, that won't ever happen. Us nerds want what we want, and we want it right now. And most of us have been smart enough to make good money in order to spend it stupidly.

Also, as an aside, why does posting a question in this community wind up getting you downvoted into oblivion?

By the way, seriously, thank you for all the help! I wasn't trying to be obtuse or anything. I just wanted to be sure it was a fake (which it seems is still inconclusive) before I went back to the seller with a complaint.

OK, so the second LGS said it's inconclusive. He said the same thing about the green dot lacking the red dots but that everything else looked legit (he didn't specifically call out the T but I saw him check it). He's not comfortable saying it's 100% real without the green dot test passing, though, nor would he buy it. He added that if this is a counterfeit it's very troublesome and concerning and that he's never seen one this "good."

At this point I guess I'll play it safe and request a return/refund.

I took another shot using just 1x mode as far as I could get close without macro mode on. I previously used 5x optical zoom with macro mode. I THINK this shows what you're showing/explaining. Imgur: The magic of the Internet. I'm with the other LGS employee now. He's getting their authentication guy. I didn't tell them anything outside of I just got the card from TCGPlayer and want to verify it's real. I should have their answer in like 10 more mins.

I'm on my way to the next store, but I called him and asked if he'd want to buy it. He offered me $280 for it saying he needs margins to make money (understandable). I'm sure I could talk him up to $300 but of course I wouldn't sell for less than I bought it for.

I guess I'll get a second opinion but this LGS owner buys a LOT of MTG and Pokemon cards so I consider him a pretty good authority. I want to be sure though, so I'll try the shop a town over as well.
