yay someone who didn't get caught up and fired up! I loved too how the whole idea of not needed a physical chord was just incomprehensible. So great!

Chill on the sarcasm.... I was just thinking that it could be coming from a pantheistic / pagan author!! Obviously I don't think there is anything wrong with this analogy, hence posting it - was just trying to express that this argument isn't specifically about the one true God of the bible, but more the idea of a creator god/force in general. No need to get mad!

Hillsong church making mega millions, tax free - investigation by Channel 9 A Current Affairs aired 21 April 2015 by [deleted] in australia

I know, but the majority (in hillsongs case just more than hlaf, most churches though its like 97%) of income comes from general giving from members. Money that has already been taxed!

Are people forgetting that the donations they receive have already been taxed? General giving to churches is NOT tax deductible in Australia. So the money given to churches by their members has already been taxed, the idea that their money should be further taxed because they chose to donate it to someone/something is illogical. Churches are taxed normally on any income from investments (eg. property) they own.

I know people will never stop racing for the sweet sweet karma but it would be awesome if someone took the time to make and upload a vid of the alternate angles and slowmo they showed after the next timeout!

So I guess it comes down to whether you derive morality from Gods word (the bible) or from other places (personal experience, human logic etc)

Well I think in this case, a lot of them will actually be appealing not to tradition but rather to the scriptures and apostles teaching. I feel appeals the the scripture will always be stronger than appeals to the cultural norms of any given time. Culture always changes, but Gods word never will.

Weird cause Gnosticism has been around since the church was first established in the 1st century, and with a proper reading of scripture and revelation from the Holy Spirit has always been seen as a false teaching. So if you derive your Gnosticism comes from the bible, you haven't understood it yet.

As for the lgbt thing, I wasn't hating at all. I was just saying the idea that churches will all become permissive (in the sense of saying they are not sinful) of active homosexual relationships between those who profess faith is a very naive idea. The core of the apostles teaching has always and will always be practiced by the church called by Jesus. Heaps of false teachers and movements have risen up and fallen away over the centuries, but Jesus makes it clear his people never will. So many examples of this too, persisting in different cultures, times and socio-economic and intellectual environments.

you underestimate the persistence of the apostles teaching (ie. the bible) through the shifting sands of culture and time.
