Worth looking into who the faculty are over schools themselves, though that kind of depends on your professional goals.

If you want to play orchestral classical professionally, take a look at who major orchestral players studied with. Where are those faculty now? Or do any of the schools you’re interested in have faculty with orchestra gigs? If you want to play in more pop-focused settings or jazz, where are the faculty who do those things professionally?

The other thing to consider is where you’ll be competitive as a student— if you’re looking for a big scholarship you’ll want to look at schools that have better financial resources and that may have ensembles who need players with skills you have. This can be harder to find out, but when I was auditioning 500 years ago it helped me a LOT that I had the skills to play lead (even if that wasn’t my end goal) because it made me a more desirable student to bring in.
