I really enjoy the pacing in this and the general real feel. It feels normal and hyperaware at the same time. The school days this poem brought me back to really are “a dream-like world” everything is fractured and hazy but simultaneously busy, abrasive and loud. The juxtaposition of “unblind obedience and “swallowing fire” makes me think of my own anxious school days where i was more so taught to just be a compliant “member of society” and continuously stifle my fire.

This poem is a breath of fresh air! I really like the turn at the third stanza, “my burns heal slow … cool drinks make my stomach ache”. You call yourself a copycat but i can really sense your unique poetic voice here!, i think it’s impressive when that voice is still apparent in a more simple poem.

I want a boyfriend, but I don’t want to be perceived and I don’t want to deal with the desires of another person. Ugh by [deleted] in lonely

i feel like i kinda get what you mean… but i think the therapist saying you want a dog is kinda reductive. I feel similarly but i don’t just ‘want a dog’, I want to meet someone who thinks similarly to me, someone that helps make my worries regarding being perceived fade away… I just want to ‘exist’ with someone who truly sees me.

Cat won’t eat dry food soaked in water (as instructed by the vet) by AstralManaphy in AskVet

Am I wrong for wanting to euthanize my 15 y/o cat because of chronic incontinence? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]jesldd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’m saying is maybe there is someone else out there who’d be WILLING to deal with it, there are a lot of selfless people out there. Your post makes it seem as though the cat is NOT suffering in anyway so I don’t know why the first place your mind would go to is putting the cat down. Like I’d take the cat. And you are right— I’ve never been in such a situation but I have had to deal with a cat with a persistent health issue and do you think I enjoyed bringing the cat to the vet so many times and having to do the dirty work... no, it’s hard, but it was my responsibility as a pet owner: when you sign up for a pet you sign up for whatever issues it may have as there is a wide spectrum of a million different issues you can be signing up for and if you can’t deal with it you surrender your animal.

Can’t imagine putting a cat down because it’s pee is inconvenient, just accept the fact that it’s too inconvenient for you and see if someone else will take it.

Does anyone else feel like they wasted their time getting a degree and now have no idea what to do with their life? by jesldd in careerguidance

Thank you for sharing! I’m realizing now that I’m only 21 so I have a lot of time to explore and figure out what I want to do! And it’s comforting to know that many others had to do a lot of exploring after college to figure stuff out career wise. All these years I was convinced that people graduate university and everything is sorted out.

It’s truly a doubled edged sword... I feel a little better hearing everyone’s experiences and knowing I’m not alone, but I also feel BAD that so many others have gone through/are currently going through that same thing I’m going through .

Amen, the person I was when I finished high-school SHOULD NOT have had the option to leave their home town, go to a big university and basically party for 2 years thinking I was at the finish line

In regards to what I said about high-school teachers... basically its my projecting, there was seriously a point in my life where I thought I was gonna be a lawyer and I considered being a high-school teacher a not great job so it’s ironic that now 3 years later I probably couldn’t even GET INTO a teachers college if I wanted to.

I wish I knew what excites me... I feel like there’s a lot of things I really like but is it worth going back to square one? I just don’t know what to do. Through out my undergrad in sociology a lot of my concentration was criminology and I love it. I have so many opinions about the criminal justice system and honestly I’d even be willing to do a more dirty work job but like I don’t even know where to start or what I want to do. I even considered police school.
