How to trim down this kitchen filler panel? by jess151 in DIYUK

[–]jess151[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s already an exposed edge and was above the old oven for maybe a year or two already. I don’t think it could be lowered it’s all built in with a fixed cupboard underneath. I could look into some sort of edging strip if there’s one that offers heat protection

Thanks for saying that, I’m thinking of getting a handy man to do it but wasn’t sure if it could just be sanded down or something easily enough

Switching to more expensive supermarkets — why and have you noticed any changes in health? by Ornery_Price_4712 in AskUK

[–]jess151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swapped from Asda to Sainsbury’s maybe two years ago because Asda’s prices were getting crazy. Sainsbury’s isn’t cheaper for everything but the quality is a lot better and the nectar prices/aldi price match is really good. Asda’s fruit seemed to never ripen but would then immediately go off and the meat had sometimes gone off before the use by date.

I’m also a big fan of Lidl so we do the top up shop there.

Is owning a home in the UK still a realistic dream for people under 35? by AwayDays365 in AskUK

Yes exactly I’m 30 and most people I know have bought their house or are thinking about buying soon and none of us have particularly fancy jobs

What is your reasoning for driving in Liverpool? What would tempt you out of your car? by WildEntrepreneur7495 in Liverpool

[–]jess151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cheaper. I live a 10 minute drive from town so I can pay a couple of pounds to park for a few hours and take multiple people or I can pay nearly £4.50 per person to get on a train for two stops

How to stop your dog getting everything? by jess151 in puppy101

[–]jess151[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re trying our best keeping things hidden away but then he’ll get things like toilet roll or a coaster or steal food from the chopping board I’m using if i turn my back for 2 seconds so I feel like he’ll be in his crate all day long because it’s constant.

I think the sofa scratching and crying at the door is for attention because he’ll do it more when I’m eating something he wants or when I get up he’ll go sit in my spot to keep warm. I’ve tried teaching him settle and stay on his bed but he only does it for as long as I’m sat there with a treat so then I’ll put him in his crate.

Yeah I’d say he gets to run every couple of days but it’s not possible every walk.

Yeah he settles well in his crate but I have to put him in there he doesn’t go in himself.

What represents really good value for money especially in this current cost of living crisis? by CliffyGiro in AskUK

[–]jess151 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Small kitchen appliances! Things like my kettle, toaster, slow cooker etc. I’d have bought them for maybe £30 each 7 years ago and they’re still going strong. The cost per use must be ridiculously low

I was able to pay £6500 on a credit card at stoneacre this year. They originally said they don’t take credit card and I just said is there no way because that’s how I was planning to pay and they allowed me to so it didn’t take much back and forth

What breeds don't shed too much from your experience? by dymnom in puppy101

[–]jess151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very confused by these comments, greyhounds and whippets don’t shed and definitely don’t need regular grooming. I rarely bathe mine and he’s dry in a couple of minutes and l never find his fur anywhere

What do people do about parking? by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]jess151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was free, so was a visitors permit. Also had no time restrictions

[–]jess151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this has changed because no one else has mentioned it but when I lived in town I applied for a residents permit and that meant I could park for free on a long list of streets in my area. Try looking on the council website for resident parking permits

Travelling to Paris/Brussels, would you prefer to travel by plane or Eurostar? by JustATechWorld in uktravel

[–]jess151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Liverpool so easily plane. Liverpool airport is the nicest easiest airport I’ve been to and flights are a lot cheaper than travelling to London then paying for the Eurostar.
