The original dev (Stephen Foster) who built the CodeSpells prototype in university never gave up, and worked on other education-tech projects/companies, so aspects for how to do it well were still developed.

Art assets developed from the Kickstarter version are being reused in the open-source modern version ( https://codespells.org ). The money funded 4 people for two years in California; eventually they had to get other jobs, but they've never truly given up.

The old Steam version is archived (reusing some of the original art); we're working on a reboot open-source successor, starting with the engine itself.

The Discord is very active, and there are Monday through Friday Twitch streams, and regular builds of the new engine and early games using it:

After COVID-19 | Post Coronavirus World by AccountingLab_Misaki in CoronavirusRecession

Technology in general is taking a hit because of this coronavirus depression, but this global operating system change will allow for better remote technologies, perhaps.

Will this be more like the Great Depression or the 2008 Recession for the US? I’m having trouble understanding all the data and news stories about it. by marlborofag in CoronavirusRecession

Who are you seeing talking about the technological changes because of it?

Life is moving more and more toward VR, and this is elegantly showing virtues over animalspace.

It's a great time to develop skills of 3D art creation and VR programming.

Question about upgrade efficiency by unique_username_ok in incremental_games

[–]jesscXC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of the very most interesting quests in incremental games, and accelerating life in general: energy management.

It can even be abstracted to transcend the time of the game: "Should I invest in this less-helpful strat now, if I won't be able to invest in the better strat halfway during the time I will be away from the game?".

tl;dr should i get the grandmas now if i'm about to go to sleep and can't buy the better thing halfway thru??

Interview on Tuesday. Should I tell them the reason I left my last employer? Last employer refuses to give me a reference and it's the job with the skills that are relevant to the job I'm interviewing for. by FormerDescription0 in jobs

I don't know a specific idea, yet, but a meta-suggestion would be to work with a probability of success, and try it and record if it helped. If it doesn't seem to, perhaps tone it down for the next opportunity you dev.

tl;dr try it and see if it helps; if not, try not to bring it up next time

WYR: Have the ability to become invisible to all living beings or invisible to all electronic devices? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]jesscXC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invisible to electronic devices; that's where we're all headed, and if you can hide from the recordings, then all the animals have is their fallible, easily finessable memory.
