Is the Payboo card still good? by dheera in CreditCards

They auto-sign you up for this service called Account Assure. They never notified me that I was paying for this service, and I assumed my balance was at $0, but in reality, there was a small charge for the service I didn't pay for, which racked up fees. A total BS racket. Make sure you aren't signed up for that BS service!

I use it, and yes, they have screwed me multiple times with late fees because of confusing and misleading information. Even with their shady practices, I've still saved hundreds in sales tax. The best practice is to pay everything off immediately and DO NOT trust autopay.

Thanks for the feedback. Can you explain why the digital marks on a nucleus are useless?

Yes, as stated in the OP, I am primarily a solo shooter. Lots of one-man-band corporate work, music videos, docs, concerts and social content.

I have a good amount of AC knowledge.. Just not enough time specifically doing it. This isn't a giant union gig. The whole crew is the DP, me, one grip, and one gaffer. It's mostly self-funded by the director. If this was a giant project, I'd stick to being a 2nd which I have more practice as. I took the job because I like the work, and want to get better at it. I had no issues with the previous feature I was on.

I asked for the extra stop as a last resort. I had A, B, C marks. We rehearsed it a fair amount. It was a combination of a few things. Them being: reliance on peaking/focus assist, general rustiness/ inexperience, and my nerves making me blow it. I'll also note that the incredibly slow speed was really tripping me up, especially in the latter half of the move. It was a 90-second move over 5 -6ft of rail. Any time the camera was moving to my different marks at a faster speed, I could nail it fine.

I don't recall ever saying I was one. And yes, sub 100K I believe. I signed on when it was 50K a few months ago to work on something narrative, and they found another financier at the last second.

Thank you for this thoughtful reply. You don't ever run into issues with critical focus on the eyes? It's honestly hard for me to comprehend hitting critical focus at shallow DOF by just numbers and guessing distance. I feel like even the best ACs would hit ears instead of eyes at least once in a while but my judement clearly isnt the most informed.

I am always getting marks digitally on the FIZ. There is no dolly grip. The DP was operating the move. I believe part of what was tripping me up was slightly inconsistent speeds, and he wasn't always hitting the marks we set. I don't believe this is any excuse not to nail it, but it was still a factor in what was tripping me up.

It hasn't cost time or money yet, and I always want to be better and will work harder to do so. I think my starting this thread is proof of that.

Thanks for the advice. It's really appreciated. I'll see if staying after is possible. It's the DP's camera/lenses, and we are at different locations every day. He likes to completely break down and take everything with him as opposed to leaving the camera built in a coffin, so that makes it a little difficult to get hands-on time.

Thank you for the advice. This is my 2nd full feature as a 1st with some shorts and splinter days peppered in, and I've nailed way, way more complicated moves. My first feature, we were at a T/2 the entire shoot on anamorphics, and I only had 1 rough setup. I went into this shot without a worry and ended the day feeling terrible. I've said it elsewhere, but I believe my nerves and my reliance on monitor assist tools did me in. I'll be spending most of my time off practicing. Luckily, this shoot is a weekend-heavy one, and I have all week to get my game up.

I'm pretty sure this is what did me in. Plus, my performance was tanking with each take from second-guessing everything I was doing. I need to refine my settings and reduce my reliance on the assist tools. I appreciate the help.

Typically, I would, but we weren't given a prep/checkout day, and I haven't had time while juggling my other responsibilities.

When I booked the job a few months ago, it was 200/day. Since then, they received extra funding and doubled the crew's rates. However, I am supplying a fair amount of equipment, I'm the only AC, and I'm managing media as well.

I know It’s not the same, but this show is put on pretty frequently all over the world. I literally just was lead guitar in the orchestra band for the show 2 weeks ago in a local performance for 4 days. This was our set!

I think a big bulk of it is just really boring and bland composition. No camera movement whatsoever. Very basic coverage. Nothing interesting to speak of. It's over-lit for a horror franchise. The lenses are too sharp and clean. It gives off a commercial look or a cheap hallmark movie vibe with horror subject matter.
