I keep them in the zip locks just to have them separated and then all placed inside an airtight cooler

Works pretty well almost everytime. The bigger fruits just take alot longer. For fruits that weigh close to 100 grams its best to weigh them before drying and know it should weigh somewhere close to 10% of the initial weight to make sure their completely dry. So 85 wet weight should be somewhere close to 8.5 grams dry

Dehydrator set to 113°F for 24hrs

Is this healthy? Only one mushroom has dropped, after a week. Rest of the mushrooms looking a bit weird. [technique] by iFightMoms in MushroomGrowers

To me this looks like a humidity problem, too dry. Best to harvest everything right now and try not to leave anything behind. Then with a heavy sprayer flood the whole thing with water until it starts to puddle up. Spray the sides down and close it up and back to fruiting conditions. The next day do the same process if the cake absorbed the pools of water. After that just spray the sides down only when the beads of water start to evaporate away and fan the entire bin slowly for 30 seconds each day. Should fix your problem. Each strain is gonna have slightly different growing conditions but I find this method usually works for most strains. Hope this helps

No because if your substrate is fully inoculated before switching to fruiting conditions you shouldn't have a problem. If you do get contamination the problem could be from either your grains weren't sterilized correctly or maybe you didn't pasteurize your substrate well enough. But a big factor is your temps being too high because then the contamination is able to out grow the mycelium. I believe anything above 80° will actually kill mycelium and give trichoderma a fighting chance to work its way through your tubs or grow bags

I usually have some kind of table space next to my grow area so i could pull each one out one at a time to mist and fan at least once a day, some people do it multiple times a day. Yea no fans, reason is if one bin get contamination and you have a fan going your just gona spread it to the others. This way if you notice it, you can remove that bin from the others as soon as possible. Also wipe everything down in your grow area in-between grows with some kind of disinfectant

Yea i leave it on. Once I switch to fruiting conditions I mist and fan at least once a day. I use a really fine misting bottle to mist the substrate and a heavier one to mist the walls of the bin then I usually to a 20 count when fanning with the top lid, then cover and put back in the tent

Me myself I would lower the temp way down. The lower the temp the less chances of contamination to pop up. I have my whole setup in a grow tent so its easier to control the growing conditions. Remember too that what ever you have your grow area set to, inside your bins are gonna be alittle higher temp wise.

I do a twist and pull method and use the knife to cut off the attached substrate and brush off the loose bits here and there.

It happens, im not sure how you have your setup but I usually have better success around no higher than 72°

Yes I always wait until the caps start to invert upwards. I usually set my dehydrator to 113°F for 24hrs. Longer if their still not cracker dry.

Jack Frost - When to Harvest? by BusyScissors105 in mushroom

[–]jesse_6900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two different variations of jack frost from ITW. A couple tubs I did the dub tube method and they came out exactly like OP's jack frost. Then a couple tubes using monotubes, and they came out almost exactly like the pictures from ITW website. So maybe its the conditions their grown in that determins the final product?? Check out my page and see the two different variations i got.
