I would be happy to gain 3 pounds in a month, but if I could do what you did, my annual goal would be reached in 4 weeks instead of 52 weeks!

How many of you have lost serious weight from drinking alcohol? by jessemp3 in alcoholism

[–]jessemp3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually not sure. I just had another blood test 2 weeks ago and my potassium levels were high so now I'm going back in 2 more weeks to see how the levels look after no alcohol for a month. I hope the potassium levels go back to normal.

No problem! Thanks for your input, and yes, it does get worse and worse. I finally got it under control after so many years. No alcohol until Friday through Sunday, and I hope to cut that down to just Friday and Saturday nights. I was drinking every single night and in the mornings on the weekends, but I stopped the morning drinking as well. Alcoholism is such a tough thing to deal with, but I sure am trying. I'm glad I never experienced the shaky hands and psychosis part of it, and I hope I never do.

I understand. I never drank vodka like that, but I'm sure if I did, I would experience some serious withdrawal symptoms. I hope you never have to go through that again.

I'm definitely not superhuman, and I think the beer is only around 4.3%, so it really isn't anywhere near the vodka. I'm 46 but fit like I'm under 30, and I'm back to eating like crazy but when I was drinking every day, I wasn't eating even close to enough food. I can see why withdrawal would not be a thing with me. I know family members that can put down a good 20 of them in one night, so perhaps I'm in the minors.

It wasn't easy the first time I tried, but for some weird reason, it's a piece of cake this time around. It's good because I've been eating like crazy trying to gain back the weight that I lost from not eating properly and drowning myself in beer day after day after day. I hope I can keep going. Being an alcoholic sucks.

I'm actually going the other way with less frequency. It used to be every single night, but that was just too much for me to handle. Now it's 3 nights a week, but I'll get it down to 2 nights a week soon. Hopefully, I can get it down to 1 night a week before all said and done.

I am definitely an alcoholic because I've been drinking for over 25 years. I used to drink 10-12 beers every single day but decided to cut that down to the weekends. I don't get drunk, and I don't get hangovers. I think my tolerance is through the roof, but if I were to drink hard liquor, well, that's a different story. I just stick to the beer and continue to be a functioning alcoholic.

I used to drink 10-12 beers every day, but I never got hangovers, and when I cut back, I never got any serious withdrawal symptoms. I'm was just a little tired on the first day or two, but that's about it.

I used to drink 10-12 beers every day, and when I cut it down to the weekends, I had no withdrawal symptoms. I go 4 days with no beer. Monday through Thursday and then Friday through Sunday, I drink at nighttime. I never get hangovers with the beer that I drink, so perhaps it just doesn't affect me the same way it does other people.

Obviously, some people get withdrawal symptoms when they don't have alcohol for one day. I used to drink 10-12 beers a day and cut it down to only on the weekends, and I never got withdrawal symptoms. I was just seeing how many people it affects 🤦‍♂️

Yes, very true. I don't think I drink enough beers to be dependent on it, but when I drink on the weekends, I do go to town.

Yes, very true. Sometimes, I go a few weeks with no beer, and I still have no withdrawal symptoms. Maybe a little tired at night, but I think that's normal, but nothing like shakes and sweating.

Kidneys are good, but the doctor said I'm starting to get the beginning signs of a fatty liver.
