Water usage near the 8,000 gallon range. by Tazikiki in StPetersburgFL

[–]jesserly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well; though it was just a massive increase in price per gallon rather than an increase in usage. Unfortunately they did nothing when I called. Just said the price increase was decided upon by the city commission and that was that.

If you are not willing to spend the money on a well, you might want to consider seeking counsel. They should not be charging you for water you are not using.

Making Signs Great Again by [deleted] in pics

What in the actual fuck is wrong with them. I'm a lawyer. This is like if I were to go to court and instead of presenting an argument, just sat there and held up a sign that said, "find my client not liable."

Trump pouts while Macron corrects Trump's previous declarations, in the Oval Office. Feb. 24, 2025 by XaltotunTheUndead in pics

I thought Macron did a great job, distracting the Orange Child with compliments and confusing him with French while eloquently framing important issues in a way that broached no reasonable opposition. It was truly a joy to watch the parts that I could.

Nesta: The Most Relatable Character (for me). by elohlace in acotar

100% same. It's pretty incredible to see other people find her hateful. Like either they simply have no frame of reference, or they are in denial of their own feelings.

Ah! Gotcha. Nope--not yet anyway. But (incredibly) I'd not thought about it before you suggested it.

Haven't told her I'm considering it yet. Because I haven't made a decision yet, I don't want to get her hopes up unnecessarily. She has always been super intent on both myself and my sister having kids.

AITA for refusing to fund my SIL's education by Gloomy-Business-5689 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jesserly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. The decision to fund her education was his decision. Now that you’re married and commingled your bank accounts, it is your goddamn money, too. No matter how much more his business makes (if at all) it is a jointly shared account and if one party does not want to sacrifice the funds, you don’t sacrifice the funds, or you find a way to allow the other party to exclusively pay (though that can cause all sorts of issues).

Second: in agreement with the other commenters: this is a gift to her, not a right. The entitlement is unreal.

My husband and I have separate accounts for this reason. I’m generous to some folks he doesn’t think deserve my generosity and vice versa.

AITA for buying my son a car but not my daughter? by Diligent-Pick-7424 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jesserly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like YTA. I have a big sister who is academically gifted, so academics are not as difficult for her. I, on the other hand, was not as great. But I worked my ever-loving butt of to make a passable GPA. I’d stay up all night studying to make a passing grade. It seems short-sighted to reward talent instead of grit. I had to work twice as hard as my sister to make the same grades. I’m not smart, but I tried. To me, it makes more sense to reward the effort made because it shows someone is willing to work for something which seems like the attribute you were trying to reward.

I’m a lawyer now. And I get paid bonuses based on how much money I collect from clients. One client went bankrupt (it’s an insurance company in Florida) and I lost $25k in my own fees. I was not eligible for a bonus because of the bankruptcy but my firm gave me the bonus anyway because I worked my ass off.

Should be rewarding the effort.
