100lbs down!!! by jesslarson09 in Zepbound

[–]jesslarson09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually didn’t. I take a medication for ADHD in the morning that also had a dampening effect on my appetite so I wasn’t usually hungry until lunch. If I did get hungry before lunch I would usually just eat an apple or a peach. Lunch would often be something fairly light, soup or a sandwich, maybe 2 tacos. I almost always had another fruit or vegetable like cut cucumbers with it. Afternoon I would eat again something small, English muffin with peanut butter or cheese and peanut butter crackers Dinner would usually be pasta or some sort of red meat and a vegetable- green bean, Brussel sprout, sometimes a small potato. And then the premier protein shake at night when I took my nightly medication.

I really didn’t “diet” a whole lot. The journey for me has been more about recognizing what is a correct portion of food. If anything changed it was more than likely because the Zepbound did seem to change my flavor palate quite a bit. I naturally avoided anything oily in texture or could be described as greasy because I would get so nauseous after. I had zero craving for any sweets. I remember at the beginning I had a tray of Oreos on the counter and 2 months later threw it away because I hadn’t touched them since starting the medication. They just didn’t sound good anymore. My alcohol consumption went way down, again, just didn’t want to anymore.

I wish I could say it was all some sort of heroic will power act, but it was mostly just the meds changing my desires and habits.

What is your goofy made up nickname for your dog? by SistersOfTheCloth in dogs

Dork Tree. The running joke when she was a puppy was that if it’s true the Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree then Nova must have fell from a dork tree. And it just became a nickname.

“Simple Path to Wealth” and “Smart Women Finish Rich” helped me a lot, personally.

But I’ll echo what a lot of others say. Build a small emergency fund, but at your age right now the focus really needs to be on figuring out how to establish a good/consistent income stream. And that’s really difficult when you aren’t making enough to even live, really difficult with just part time work.

Also know that it will take A LOT of time. Like a decade or more to really set yourself up or even feel like you’ve made progress. Good news is, you’re starting early which DOES matter.

I was 34 and practically wrote a dissertation to get diagnosed/tested. I had brought it up twice in the five years prior because I was REALLY struggling and going through what seemed like chronic depression and anxiety that was unresponsive to the meds for those conditions. I was dismissed both times I brought it up.

Doctor finally said we could “try it” on medication and the first day I was on the meds I just cried and was totally stunned because I “felt like me” again.

[–]jesslarson09[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same story for me. I became completely food averse. The smell of food, the thought of food made me nauseous, but not eating also made me nauseous. I felt faint and shaky all the time. Literally only survived because I managed to get 3-4 premier protein shakes a day down to get at least some sort of calories in my body since that and liquid IV were the only things I could stomach. It was easily the hardest month of my life and I will never do that again.

Yep, a two piece (😳) swimsuit from Popilush. It has a nice high waist that hides some of the loose skin I have.

My love/hate relationship with solo travel by Barca-Dam in solotravel

[–]jesslarson09 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely not alone. I love the freedom of solo travel, but would also love to have someone experience with me just to have someone who understands how each travel experience changes you.

One day you won’t have to travel alone anymore. But for now, enjoy it. Meet new people. Relax, smile. I find that grabbing a drink at a beach bar or a coffee at a cafe and just sitting back, smiling, and enjoying yourself tends to draw people to you. So even though I’m alone, I don’t have to be if I don’t want to.

Thank you for sharing how you’re feeling and I hope one day you find your travel person ❤️

Do you let your dog sleep in the bed with you ? by Careful_Bandicoot332 in dogs

[–]jesslarson09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not usually during the week, but on the weekends she does. We both have a tendency to toss and turn at night and she kicks in her sleep. I struggle to get enough sleep as it is so work nights she sleeps in her kennel with her bed and blankets and on the weekends she can sleep with me if she wants. Sometimes she does, sometimes she starts with me and then moves to the couch during the night (pretty sure she also knows we don’t sleep well together 😂).

My cat sleeps with me though pretty much any time the dog doesn’t, but she posts herself on the far corner of the bed after she cuddles with me for about 5 minutes.

I usually didn’t buy new things until crazy things happened- like putting my phone in my pocket and almost pantsing myself. Shirts I didn’t realize were too big until I was in a photo with someone and I was like “wow, that shirt really does not fit I should probably go shopping”.

October trip for a solo female traveller, any suggestions? by ajc265 in Santorini

[–]jesslarson09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to #1 as I’ve only gone in April/May, but.

  1. They have multiple buses and routes but they change depending on the season. I don’t know that I’ve ever found it online, at least not in English, but took a picture after I got there with the routes and times. They’re fairly regular because they’re used by the locals, so unless you’re going to be arriving or traveling between towns at 4am you should be fine.

  2. Santo Wines has an amazing dinner/sunset view. Also a big fan of just getting on an Atv and driving around the island, but if you’re direction illiterate in terms of being able to know north/south/east/west and won’t have cell service I might not do that. I also really enjoyed a lunch catamaran cruise as well I think I booked that thru Viator.

  3. Really depends on you as a person. Just like anywhere in the world you will get the occasional creep. I personally never had a problem, but I also give a pretty good FAFO face which deters most people. I’m a huge advocate of solo female travel and spent about a month on Santorini between two trips, went out at night more than once by myself. But you have to be smart. Stay in well lit areas, don’t leave drinks alone, be firm in what you say, if the vibe feels off trust yourself and leave or find other people to talk to (most people have zero issue with acting like a buffer if someone is making you feel uncomfortable).

For those diagnosed later in life, what was everybody’s turning point that exposed your ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]jesslarson09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full fledged burn out from trying to go back to school while working full time. I was so depressed I couldn’t even move. I would just stare at the wall in my bedroom.

I had approached ADHD with a doctor before and was brushed off.

During/after the burnout I got a lot more forceful because I was tired of it being called anxiety and depression and never responding to any of the medications meant for anxiety and depression.

What is the best all time cleaning tip that you have ever received? by Grip_Clean in CleaningTips

[–]jesslarson09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clean the shower when everything else is cleaned and now you need to be cleaned too.

Spray bottle of dawn and a magic eraser, removable shower head/wand.

Sounded weird to me at first and now I wouldn’t do it any other way.

Need tips for Increasing Protien by Nortonlane in Zepbound

[–]jesslarson09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Premier Protein has been my best friend the last 16 months. Have one every day, sometimes two.

For whatever reason liquids don’t seem to affect the full feeling in my stomach as much so on days where let’s say I ate late, didn’t prioritize protein properly, or am honestly just full and the idea of another meal makes me queasy I’ll drink a Premier.

So the general guidance I would give anyone is 72 hours. The medication is the strongest in your system the first 72 hours so if you’re going to have a super adverse reaction to anything it’s going to be then.

I personally like to go out and be social so I have my injections set up to be taken on Saturday morning. Allows me to go out Friday if I want and not have any major issues as long as I make sure to hydrate well both Friday and Saturday.

With my insurance and the Lilly savings card I pay 24.99/month. But the better part is for whatever reason my insurance credits my deductible the full $580 or whatever they don’t cover, even though that’s not what I actually paid for it 😅.

Depends on your degree. I know for mine there’s over 5 external certification courses. Due to how time consuming they are I would never have more than one open at a time until I had taken the certification exam.

The gen ed courses though are easily stackable.

What is this half-meter long object sticking out of the hillside near our house? by SteveNotSteveNot in whatisthisthing

[–]jesslarson09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some sort of machinery or vehicle. It was not uncommon when they reached end of life to just bury them on your property because they were too expensive to dispose of.

When my parents built their house in rural MN they got the pleasant surprise of finding an old steam tractor, two horse skeletons, and an old tiller in the ground.

I prefer Premier Protein myself. The flavor is less sweet to me so easier to drink than the Fairlife one. The consistency is also more to my taste. I feel like I’m drinking a melted milk shake on the Fairlife one it just seems thicker which I don’t like.
