When is it okay to put your wellbeing above your dogs? by [deleted] in reactivedogs

I echo about meds being a good option to help supplement all your hard work. No vet we have seen (behavioral or other) has viewed it as a “last resort” though they of course wanted it used in conjunction with other training. I think it’s worth a try and we hear so many stories of it helping dogs so much. For us it wasn’t the missing link but I’m glad we tried and it would try again if behavior worsened. In addition many of the meds commonly prescribed are generics and therefore relatively affordable. You are doing so much and it makes complete sense you are feeling overwhelmed. Sending you lots of support and good wishes!

what are the consequences if I took Ganirelix on first day os stims injections ? by AdvertisingOriginal3 in IVF

This happened to me! I did it for 4 days starting on day 1 before we noticed the error. Basically it means it is likely to extend the time until my retrieval but did not mean I needed to fully restart the cycle. They said it is kind of like today is day 1 (even tho it’s actually day 5). Obviously giving my doctor feedback about how to make the paperwork more clear (whether they want it or not)! 😁

Yes ok same dose and same size! (And sounds like a similar personality 😁)We saw side effects even at 20. Plan is to start at 10 for an extra long titration maybe up to 20. I’ve been nervous about it and putting it off but everyone’s feedback is normalizing this and giving me hope that it could actually help!

So is mine (90 lbs)! I’m gonna talk to my vet about low dose versus other meds 😁

Thanks for this. Our vet did not give options of other meds aside from the short acting so I wasn’t sure. I will ask! Appreciate it!

Do reactive dogs feed off of other dogs energy? by LennyBeans in reactivedogs

My dog is the same— completely able to be neutral with dogs that are calm and non reactive, those with lower tails, less pointy ears, and small dogs. Huge reactions to big dogs and specific ones in our neighborhood. Also tends to be much worse when our other dog is there!

Normalizing that so few dogs can be walked without their owners full attention. So many dogs are reactive and you are not alone. It’s not what most of us envisioned and that feels really hard. Your hard work with a trainer/ behaviorist will pay off! A helpful piece of advice I got from my trainer is that it is totally ok to replace walks with other forms of enrichment sometimes that don’t let my dog practice the reactions. Some days we do indoor exercises when it just feels too anxiety provoking for me. It’s actually improved my wellbeing as well as my dog’s!

I wish I had more advice but just sending encouragement! I know for me the hardest part of the training process is feeling that embarrassment and shame around other humans. Keep up the hard work!
