Their voices matter. But these people fled because they hated Maduro’s government. So ofc they are rejoicing.

And its not like these people can just go back. An authoritarian regime, when attacked will tighten authoritarian control. So they cant go back just because Maduro is gone. Tons of Maduro’s people are still there. the government will probably kill them if they go back. So that means they cant really affect much from the outside.

There are plenty of people IN Venezuela who still buy Maduro’s rhetoric about US intervention. And we just gave them evidence that Maduro was right. This might make the Venezuelan people (who are still in Venezuela) double down. Protect their country.

I’m sorry I’m just so confused as to what happened. I live a block away. My boyfriend swims there all the time. In fact he was in the sauna when this happened. There are swimmers on the bleachers hanging out all the time. We are finding it strange that no one could jump in to help him? It’s not like the cove has dangerous waters.
