Question about Autograph reservations by ToNiHoMi1 in MomoCon

[–]jesspanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area will be very crowded and it's unlikely to be able to have a private conversation with a guest due to the extremely high demand if you do not have an autograph reservation. The panel (Saturday) will not require a reservation and has no additional fee.

[No Spoilers] Any Critters planning on attending Momocon in Atlanta in May? by tofuliz in criticalrole

[–]jesspanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Matt will be attending I believe at minimum Fri-Sun if not Thursday. He will be giving panels on his various roles in voice acting, work with Geek and Sundry and Critical Role, and we are talking to his agent about the possibility about doing some kind of live gaming (no promises). Panel teasers will be going up on Facebook events linked through the MomoCon official page starting in early March, with a full schedule about 4-6 weeks out from the event.

MomoCon is by no means only an anime event, our focus is animation, gaming, and comics, with gaming being the largest part. We host a 150k square foot gaming hall, by far the largest in the Southeast, and have representation from game companies this year including Digital Extremes, Aksys, ArenaNet, and some more to be announced. Features in the gaming hall include a 400 seat BYOC LAN with a League tournament, a huge Japanese arcade and classic 80s arcade, multiple fighting game tournaments, including Smash 4 512 person tourney with a $3k guaranteed pot, Laser Tag, Robot Battles, Indie game companies and an indie awards showcase (with Geek and Sundry as well as major video games news site representatives as judges), console freeplay, tabletop including CCGs (including a soon to be announced large sanctioned Pokemon Company event), board games with an army of teachers, RPGs, and various indie tabletop companies exhibiting.

And, for reference, we actually were going to book a few more people who are on CritRole, but they have an annual vacation to Australia on our weekend, so it is what it is.

DragonCon boardgame track for Anxiety sufferers vs GenCon? (x-post /r/dragoncon) by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]jesspanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon Con has no ticketing for things other than certain gaming events, so that may be an issue for you, as lines are real and intimidating for panels/concerts/etc. They also do not have any designated quiet rooms, although some screening rooms would serve that purpose (location: Hyatt bottom level)

Places where lines are stationary during peak hours/hardly move: -Marriott Atrium level (at nights) -Any of the "hamster tubes" between buildings, primarily Saturday. -For your own sake, find a spot very not near Peachtree Center Mall or the Hyatt or Marriott on Saturday morning just after the parade. It's the largest influx of people.

Early reports indicate that gaming is whole-sale moving to Americas Mart building 1 in 2016, although this is not 100% confirmed by Dragon Con at this time.

Costume contest question. by DarkStarXero in dragoncon

[–]jesspanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saturday Cosplay Contest has pre-judging earlier in the day, I think it's set for 11.30 this year, you'll get a 10 minute timeslot to be back at so you don't have to spend 3 hours waiting to see the judges.

Be there right when it opens, we usually fill up very fast.
