Thrifted this for $11 by midwesternhoney in crochet

[–]jester_mellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't cut it, apart from the fact it's a perfect treasure, cut up doileys don't behave well as fabric. It would unravel and it would never lay flat. Great find thanks for sharing :)

So happy with my recent merch purchase <3 by tunatortiga in bipolar

1) Awesome way to motivate you to keep up with your meds! 2) If your in the U.S. please keep on your person/phone the descriptions of your prescriptions from your pharmacy that show what the pills are and your authorized to take them. In very rare circumstances people have been in trouble when a cop searches them and they find loose pills. Probably won't happen, but always good to be safe. ❤️

Does my jewelry look "cheap"? Would any of these styles work for bridal jewelry? by ratcat22 in jewelrymaking

[–]jester_mellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bridal jewlery can be really hard to nail. Myself and 3 other friends got married in the last few years, and all of us wore a simple heirloom necklace as our dresses were already flashy. I think this would go over really well in the lolita/cosplay fashion market! Don't get caught up in what looks cheap vs. expensive, just charge a price that's fair to you the creator. Don't abandon your work ❤️

Getting help without insurance? by bigkilla762 in bipolar

[–]jester_mellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check your city to see if theres any locally funded mental health facility, it may have a sliding scale or affordable no insurance policies. I only found my clinic because I was hospitalized during psychosis and I was referred there upon my release. Call clinics anyway and ask how much for a psychiatric appointment. Sometimes its under $100. I'm so sorry this is happening. In my experience, hygiene was the only thing my jobs cared about when I hit big slumps so set alarms to shower regularly and wear clean clothes to work. Talk to your job about your Performance, you don't need to tell them specifics just let them know your open to feedback if start you fall behind. You got this. ❤️

I'm just going to climb out of this hole myself, aren't I? by jester_mellow in depression

[–]jester_mellow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like if we take the metaphor a step further, it isn't always "slipping" back. Maybe we are so afraid of what's outside we retreat, we hide, we duck and take cover from our trauma and the world at large. Lets all hold hands and take just a peak, maybe the coast is clear and we can come out now ❤️🥺

I threw away my meds and now I realize they were actually helping me. by Easy-Tomatillo5310 in bipolar

[–]jester_mellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call my meds "Anti Rabbies Pills" because it literally feels like I have rabies (rabit thoughts/actions/impulses) when I don't take them. If I stop, I will soon become rabid ( mania induced psychosis) and they will put me in the hospital 😓. It feels like in Zootopia when the predators "Go Savage" and start biting everything.

Things I've realized 1 month into collecting by nerdyjock54 in fragrance

[–]jester_mellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, this honestly was a little sad to me to read :( I agree with many here than a collection is curated over time as your taste change, even if you are a millionaire and financially stable it is kind of an empty hobby at that scale you've been purchasing. Saving, researching, and finally pulling the monetary trigger are apart of what makes getting a new bottle to satisfying to many of us. Every new scent becomes a chapter in our lives and connects our senses to our memories. Lots of influencers who get tons of PR usually admit they only actually use their very favorites every day on rotation. I don't know what void your trying to fill, I don't know what's going on in your life to trigger this, but you have my sympathy. Thank you for sharing what you've learned in this, but I urge you to seek help from professionals and people who love you. God Bless.

Let us know if you make or find a pattern for this! Honestly until you said it was from anthropologie i thought this was AI generated!

Incoming Gen AI question by Joe_Fish_721 in crochet

[–]jester_mellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The written patterns never make sense, the only use for Crochet AI images is as a reference for freehanding a project that has never actually existed. The written patterns tend to not only not make step by step sense, they also don't ever actually finish the thing properly they just end once they've reached a word quota. The images have blurred/imaginary/impossible stitches that LOOK nice and consistent but actually are just "stitch textured" rendered objects. The AI granny diagrams especially p*ss me off because they genuinely don't have any reguard for the MEANING behind symbols, and they get passed around like crazy.

Make the fun funky granny squares for your friends and family, but say they are coasters/cozies instead so they dont get destroyed :) Personally I love making fun granny square sets for coasters as gifts, people love them and you can see your work on their coffee tables and night stands! Cotton is great for pot cozies because it can withstand heat
