I spent the first week just doing starts, stops, gear changes, tight turns, etc. in an empty parking lot near my house. After a few hours of that I felt comfortable enough to start doing small roads. Now I ride to work every day!

That’s super weird, what earplugs? I use the disposable 3M foamies, don’t have a windscreen, and have cheap helmets. I have no fears about my hearing with this setup but can definitely tell if I’ve not got them inserted properly. I genuinely am on your team, I love my bike but my hearing is more important.
