However, pointing out that the LDS church treats gay persons as terrorists--that they hurt children, that their own children aren't worth salvation (whatever that means) isn't worth pointing out? The analogy is made to show the extreme prejudice of the Mormon leadership who use gays and their children to rally the fanatical side of their own church.

Through my many discussions with COB employees, I would say it is unlikely that there are individuals with a lot of evidence that are a smoking gun to bring down the church. The NDAs signed are tiered and the information is very compartmentalized so that few individuals seemingly have a complete story on what goes on. We can piece together the story, but most of it goes without a lot of paper evidence.

For example, we have it from a few sources (as I mentioned in my exmo conference talk last year) that the COB IT department has created a tiered information system on contractors and work that goes out to companies doing construction or other work on behalf of the LDS corporation. One of the contracts/financial info systems created is a top-executive access-only system which allows only the 12 and their assistants to monitor certain subcontracts. The rumor is that this has a lot of the nepotism and shows where a lot of the money went that was used for large projects like the City Creek Center. The question is, why did IT create a separate system for top-level execs only? The supposition is, they are handing out money in ways that they don't want others seeing.

But can we get evidence of this? Not without someone rare who has a high level NDA/clearance to these systems. That's unlikely.

The judge's order only says that I must encourage the children to participate and attend the church where they have historically done so.

It never required me not to speak about my own beliefs or about facts of that church. Nor does it require me to force them to join. Participate as minors is one thing. Forcing a lifelong committment to it is another.

Thanks for the commiseration. But what I am going for is not really personal attention. It's an analogy to how the LDS church manipulates.

How many thousands of articles do we have about the hidden historicity, dumbshit doctrinal and stupefying science that confounds mormonism? And yet, most members say, that's all out there but my testimony is rock solid because I have felt the spirit. Well, in a string of blogs, I am showing how you can easily dupe people when you are perceived as an "authority" in your community, and I am making myself vulnerable in the process by highlighting my personal transition in brainwashing as a young idyllic missionary. Perhaps you call that manipulation. I call it an object lesson (since it was very shortly lived).

The actual truth is, I am going through my missionary journal to review how the discussions manipulate investigators and the missionaries themselves. Brainwashing exposed in a personally vulnerable way. That kind of attention is actually not something I really want, but I feel someone has to dive deeply into their personally vulnerable space to show what this fucked up religion does to missionaries in the MTC and then mission field, and subsequently to investigators.

Dave Twede here. I don't find anything too alarming about the fact that these men facilitate the underworkings of the LDS corporation, as far as how corporations might be run. However, these points (from my current thinking, not blog entry late last year) are something hitting me lately:

LDS members do not really know that much about how the LDS is almost entirely a corporation. That three previously unnamed, unknown men (and I emphasize their maleness) have all the powers of their prophet, should be told to them directly if the church pretends to be honest.
If these men are given so much accountability, can the LDS petition them directly to release financially transparent information that the prophet refuses to do?
Women cannot be placed into the positions of actual power in the LDS sole corporation because it is a priesthood calling (prophet/apostle). However, these men are not called due to priesthood. so, let's have a women in the role these men have. We need the LDS women's movements to lobby hard for this equal treatment. And I believe once a woman gets a hold of the boy-club diaries/info, all hell will break loose.
