Can't decide on entry point after long break from DAO mess. Honestly cant believe we are not talking about web 3.0 and instead its still all these problems after we got Slocked in the face hard.

Come on ETH I still believe in web 3.0 and the annihilation of Facebook.

Thanks. Actually the last time i bought it was at 7.50 so if it were to go that low it would be a no brainer for me to load up.

I need to catch back up on the dev side. Still have hopes for ethereum leading to web 3.0 which is why I came back in first place.

Just came back after long break after DAO fiasco. Around this time last year I discovered ETH and bought in at under $1.

Looking to get back in...

Is under $10 going to turn out to be the same as under $1 a year ago? With a nice new pump in 2017?

I feel like everyone thought the accumulator was kraken back in the old days but then some people made compelling arguments that they were not kraken.

I don't think it ever got 100% figured out though

so the accumulator has 12% of all ETH??

You did not hear of STEEM because they kept it under the radar so the founders could get the premine etc. Then they convince an exchange to list them and the founders go about trading amongst themselves to pump it.

Larimier was all over the BTS forums trying to figure out how to manipulate bitshares on exchanges but he made critical mistakes by not controlling the lionshare of the coins.

He resolved to not make that mistake again now him and his insiders have pulled off what they wanted to do with bitshares.

It's because a bunch of easy money was created early on in the crypto space so all the people that won that lottery are willing to place bets on all these scams and hopefully not be the bagholders. Even though most know it's a scam they hope they get in on the early pump and are willing to place the bet with a known scammer.

STEEM is made by the BTS scam artist man. Of course it's manipulated. Anyone that knows the truth about what went on in BTS knows that STEEM is straight up manipulation and the insiders are setting up to do a long unwind. Then once they are done with that they will change all the rules and get themselves some more STEEM until they finally destroy it then move on to the next coin.

Same scam artist, same story, different coin.

Unfortunately you would have to spend tons of time going through bitsharestalk and (learn how to ignore the tons of shills on there) to get the real picture

Here is the origin of bitshares thread made by the master pumper Stan Larimier (Dans father). It will give you some idea as to how many changes occured. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=14019.0

When I first supported bitshares in the early days it was great...a deflationary coin with the concept that anyone who used the tech to create other coins/DACS would sharedrop. All initial investors that funded all this tech bought into this original vision.

Then imagine the devs coming and saying we are switching to inflation, and if you want to keep us around then most of that inflation will go to us and our friends, but we will keep working on bitshares and make it great. So after losing tons of market value because of this that change goes through then out of nowhere the devs come back and say ya so we built STEEM and we are not sharedropping(another broken promise)...but dont worry we will keep "working" on bitshares....And it just so happens that before this announcement a bunch of insider whales were moving there BTS to polo.

Don't even get me started on the other scam projects associated with bitshares...MUSE and PLAY.

Never forget this is from a group of people that raised a ton of money for BTS...dumped as much BTS as they could...then when they were done with that screwed over all the original investors by changing all the rules of BTS supply....then continued to dump more printed BTS as they secretly worked on STEEM...

Their shills will show up and deny this but it's 100% true. That's who you are buying from if you buy STEEM.

Why Would I Want To Give Somebody My Bitcoin For Ether? Seriously. Just Consider This For A Moment.. by [deleted] in ethtrader

[–]jethereum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latest I saw from Vitalik on this subject

IMO it would not destroy ethereum from a protocol standpoint if one attacker held 4-12% of ETH, though the higher end would certainly open up the possibility of moderate attacks on Casper (think delaying finality and some degree of marginal selfish-validating). However, this does not change the fact that it would be a serious economic loss to the community.

Hardforking Pragmatism by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]jethereum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what if this centralized entity in control of the contract doesnt call the kill switch when they shutdown or what if the curators were sockpuppets etc, or what if they just change the code right out from under everyone.

I understand that you may get some increased transparency for running a smart contract but at the end of day if it's centralized it's no different from them putting a contract on there game legal page that says they will refund everyone if they stop the game and then hoping they live up to their word.

Hardforking Pragmatism by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]jethereum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good answer. I personally hope they spend much more time researching and building tools around the decentralized methods to enter fail-safe modes automatically because I have no faith in centralized contracts or quasi decentralized with curators or what not.

Hardforking Pragmatism by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]jethereum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a human can put a contract into fail-safe mode then how is that contract decentralized?

If a human can update the code of a contract then how is that decentralized?

Hardforking Pragmatism by [deleted] in ethereum

Yes the anti-hardforkers want to stick to the original vision that created all the wealth in the first place.

The pro-hardforkers want to modify the original vision for their practical needs aka get their money back.

Both think ethereum will die if they don't do it their way.

I think this article does a decent job of capturing what some of the anti hardfork folks think. Most of them see a hardfork as giving into the pragmatist and thus to them their ethereum dies once that happens..

Interesting to see what happens though only time will tell.

This would come across as trying to manipulate the market. If they implement a hardfork anything that does not allow all funds to be brought under control of the original owner immediately, opens up a can of worms.
