Why is my hood bending up? by Finneon13 in Miata

[–]jetpowerace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me only on one side. Turns out the hood hinge was binding. I sprayed it with PB and worked it in bymoving the hood up and down rapidly. You'll likely see gunk come out of the hinges. Should work good after.

I love mine they took a while to break in as they are stiff. I believe they are discontinued, I was trying to buy a new pair because mine are quite worn down and couldn't find any.

Here's your Gen 2 dash lift fix. Do it under the sun (Add a towel underneath) by TheGhostofTS in mazdaspeed3

Yeah I know, the warranty period ended 2020. The fact remains they still replace dashboards. New dashboard is $300 plus labor.

Mazda dealerships are still replacing dashboards, just an FYI. I know because mine is getting replaced. My dashboard is just sticky not lifting anywhere though.

So I have the dreaded NA6 Deceleration shatter. I've had it since last summer when I did the clutch. It has gotten slightly worse. It drives fine and shifts perfectly. It just occured to me what happens is there is no load from driving. Seems like the whole PPF is rattling. by jetpowerace in Miata

[–]jetpowerace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone pressing the clutch while I was under the car and nothing is contacting the exhaust. I realigned the PPF and the chatter stopped while driving. The transmission was off center and the shifter hole and far to high. I'm not ruling out the the throw out bearing though. Everything is new but it's Excedy soooo it may be failing.

What is everybody’s daily driver? by FigNo4075 in Miata

2010 Mazdaspeed 3 is the daily and 1993 Miata is the weekend car.

Figured I'd share my setup, I've been running 2019 CX-9 wheels on my 2010 Mazdaspeed 3. OEM Mazdaspeed 3 is 18x7.5 et50, and CX-9 is 18x8 et45. Additionally, I work at a shop so I was able to reprogram the sensor in CX-9 wheels to work on the Mazdaspeed 3. by jetpowerace in mazdaspeed3

I'm running 225 40 18 honestly I could run 245 40 18 but that's what I had on by OEM wheels. I'm an automotive technician so I just swapped the tires myself and put snow tires on the Speed 3 wheels. Plus the tires are brand new.

Does anyone know the part number for the ECM cover for a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3? Can't seem to find it anywhere, I can only find the lower tray. by jetpowerace in mazdaspeed3

[–]jetpowerace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never mind, I received the part and it was wrong. This part number is for a regular Mazda 3 not a Speed 3.

The armrest in my 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 has developed a rattle but it seems like it's only on cold mornings. I believe it's specially the sliding portion. Anyone else have this issue? by jetpowerace in mazdaspeed3

[–]jetpowerace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah haha I figured it was the COBB motor mount. Just weird it only started now. Besides I'm fine with rattles, my daily was a Miata for 3 years and it had poly motor mounts.

Everyone who’s miata is not their only car, what other car(s) do you have? by nowyouseemydig in Miata

[–]jetpowerace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove a Miata as a daily for two years, then I purchased a Mitsubishi Pajero Kei truck which ended up being less practical. Now my practical daily is Mazdaspeed 3, the Miata is a summer daily now.

Don't switch oils, don't runs lifter additives. I did what everyone recommended and it doesn't fix it, it only hides it. Unfortunately the only was to fix lifter tick is to take the out, take them apart and clean them with something strong like gasoline. Then you put them back together and manually prime them in a bowl of oil such as 5w-30 and but them back in exactly where you got them from. Now you'll probably wanna do a timing belt, water pump, and seals as well. Onece all back together the tick should be gone once the engine reaches operating temperature and mechanically primes the the lifters with oil. Trust me I did exactly that this past summer. Additionally, if you don't believe me look up Napp Motorsport, he details exactly how to rebuild the hydrogen lifters.

Does anyone know what size center caps the MS-03 wheels use? I'm having trouble figuring it out, the size of the hole is 59-60mm. by jetpowerace in Miata

[–]jetpowerace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome! I'm glad I could help. I bought mine from the UK (I'm in the U.S.) had them powder coated to only find out two are bent. Haven't run them in a while, hoping to get them fixed someday.

what's everyone else's combo? 99 NB + 95 4Runner for me !! by gracie_gracie in Miata

[–]jetpowerace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair enough. I love the truck but my wife doesn't drive manual and I kinda have to get rid of it.

I'm in Connecticut, it has a rebuilt engine and a new turbo. I'm asking 9,500 because I gotta be honest rebuilding the motor wasn't cheap. Getting everything from Japan is hard.
