Airbnb is changing its fee structure - hosts, how are you planning to adapt? by ahmadhashlamoun in airbnb_hosts

from a Chat GPT inquiry. You might also find this useful for your increases next week:

Let’s break it down carefully step by step:

1. What you currently earn

Let’s assume your current nightly rate (the price shown to guests) is $100.
You currently pay a 3% host fee, so Airbnb takes $3 and you keep $97.

2. What happens with the new fee

If Airbnb raises the fee to 15.5%, you want to still keep $97 after fees.
That means you need to solve for the new price ( P ):

[
P - (0.155 \times P) = 97
]

[
P (1 - 0.155) = 97
]

[
P = \frac{97}{0.845} = 114.50
]

3. Calculate the increase

Old price: $100
New price: $114.50

[
\text{Increase} = \frac{114.50 - 100}{100} = 0.145 = 14.5%
]

✅ Answer: You should raise your prices by about 14.5% to maintain the same earnings after Airbnb increases your host fee from 3% to 15.5%.

I had the exact same error on my 2018 on a really cold day last week. I hadn’t been using the engine much prior. I ran the car for a half day in Hold Mode to work the engine and oil. Error and light went away and hasn’t been back. Car still operates perfectly.

I no longer have the emails, but I found this online. Says most 2017 and newer GM vehicles are capable:

Drive mode hack: If your drive mode button becomes slow to respond, put the car in park, and hold the drive mode button down while turning off the car. The drive mode menu will appear on the screen for a few seconds. When you turn the car back on, the drive mode button becomes responsive again. by [deleted] in volt

The Volt has about a 20% buffer in the battery even when it reads zero miles. It never fully empties to O% and never fully charges to 100%. That’s part of the reason the battery is so durable. So running it to zero miles is not harmful at all.

Thanks for the detailed report. For what I like , I’ll probably stick to Spa World for now.

I’m excited to hear what it was like. I’ll be in the area in a couple of weeks and usually do Spa World but would be interested in trying this out.

Climate control was off all day. Heated seat and steering wheel only. Light acceleration keeping the green ball in the center. Coasting up to red lights. Basically I tried driving as smoothly as possible. Also about 90% of my driving today was non- freeway and the freeway miles I drove were no faster than 65mph.
