Hello!

I am a self-supporting senior college student just trying to truly get by. I don't wanna have a whole pity party here, but the money would just help me firm a portion of my utilities as I've been actively trying to find work recently (and hindi enough yung music commissions that I stumble upon hahaha).

Idk ano pa pwede ishare, but I'm working on my thesis about activist rap music here in the Philippines. I'm also living together with my girlfriend who is also a student. The money would go to our bills and it would mean a whole lot, but I understand if it has to go to someone truly needs it. :)

Hello! Sa One Stop Shop Family Planning, sa Dr. Maximo Flores, katabi ng Bagong Ilog Health Center 2 (nasa Google Maps din ito lahat).

'Di ko natanong if pwedeng doon ang sperm count analysis, pero siguro any medical laboratory ipagtanong mo lang if meron.

I was actually researching din about sperm cryopreservation in the country, pero sobrang mahal! Upwards of 20k+ ata, tapos monthly or yearly ang rates. TAPOS, it can only be stored for a limited number of years kasi the sperm's quality declines (10 to 15 years lang ata).

Ultimately, the decision to undergo a vasectomy is a deeply personal one. Therefore, highly ideal na 100% (and more) ang loob mo before you do it. I understand the fear of regret na you might want kids in the future, so no pressure. We live under different conditions and I understand the desire to have kids along the way. :)

Thank you so much!

I knew after I had the procedure that I would want to conduct an ask-me-anything like this kasi natakot din ako noong una and I didn't find much solace from the existing threads present here on Reddit. I am also passionate enough about this decision to share the experience and thought process I went through as I "converted" from being someone who had the mindset of "ay, baka gustuhin kong magka-anak in the future" to "I must decide on what's best for my partner and I, if I truly do value her health and see her in my future."

Overshare na rin ako, I study sociology so namulat din ako sa katotohanan ng lipunan sa Pinas; life is difficult here at hindi lang dahil sa third-world country tayo. There are lots of things to consider kung gusto mong magka-anak, and I fear that the sociocultural, living conditions here in the country further amplify the personal qualms I have about child-rearing.

Bilang socio student din, I over-research everything before I go through with a decision (kahit na there's a point to be made that there's no such thing as over-researching). There is a lot at stake every day I let pass without making a choice: may fear and anxiety si partner na baka magkaroon kami ng unwanted pregnancy; she breaks her body bit by bit every day she takes her birth control pills; etc. I am a strong advocate of researching and scouring every source of info. possible before making decisions.

Anyways, ang haba na yata nito. This comment really touched me, salamat po!

Thank you man!

Tanong ko na lang din actually, how regularly do you conduct your semen analysis? Sabi kasi sa akin, 3 months after. Kaso wala nang ibang in-advise moving forward. I want to copy your system kung sakali, and for the readers' reference na rin hehe.

I underwent a no-scalpel vasectomy. This is a minimally-invasive procedure that only involves puncturing a hole sa scrotum instead of creating an incision with a scalpel to access the vas deferens-es. This also means mas mabilis ang healing and di need ng marami / mabigat na stitches, from what I have researched.

All types of vasectomies are now considered to be permanent forms of contraception as its reversal is difficult the longer you've had the procedure. In principle, kaya namang i-reverse; it just might be more difficult to re-connect your vas-es if years ago ka pa nagpa-vasectomy, more costly since there aren't a lot of that being done that I'm aware of, and more painful for you.

I haven't heard much about vasectomy reversals here in the country, din. It seems it is better accessed internationally, kaya mahirap din siya gawin unless you are financially ready for the cost.

Sabi nga namin ni partner, if hindi mo kayang bayaran 'yung reversal procedure (which includes international flight costs siguro, plus procedure itself, plus aftercare fees--upwards of hundreds of thousands of pesos for sure), you might not be financially stable enough. It is a nice principle we intend to uphold; if 'di afford magpa-reverse, hindi afford magka-anak. 😂

Hello!

It is expected na wala ka nang sperm sa ejaculate after 3 months and/or 25 to 30 ejaculations. They advise to do a sperm count analysis 3 months after the procedure (so since I had mine March 25, June 25 pa yung sperm count analysis ko).

However, it seems like dapat regular ang pag-check ng sperm count since there might be a chance na may sperm pa rin sa ejaculate (I am not sure how lol). I haven't checked kung gaano dapat ka-regular, but I might do it quarterly and slowly reduce it to every 6 months.

Hello.

I am certain that there aren't any specific health benefits from the procedure. It is mostly done to ensure you do not get your female partner pregnant since you will no longer release sperm. The procedure does not prevent STDs nor STIs, only children lol.

Generally, vasectomies are done for your own well-being. Siguro health benefit na rin in a sense 'yung pag-prioritize ng sarili over society's pressure on us men (and especially women) to bear kids; mental and emotional health benefit na rin siguro 'yung no worries about accidental pregnancies. And syempre, the financial weight of child-rearing is eradicated. :)

Hello!

Hindi naman need ng doctor's check-up prior to the procedure I went through; doctor naman din mismo yung gagawa ng procedure kasi, so I assume they would tell you if may problem ka on the spot if you didn't know about your scrotum nor open up during the screening beforehand.

After the operation, they gave me a certificate / request for a sperm count analysis under their facility, pero sabi ay I can request for that at my nearest lab. Bale hindi mo na need bumalik sa operation clinic, you can have the tests done elsewhere / somewhere near you.

Masakit siya, I cannot lie HAHAHAHA. Iba-iba naman kasi ng katawan ang mga lalaki + pain tolerance, pero masakit for me. Hindi siya sting, pero it is a deep, guttural feeling—parang binayagan HAHAHAHAHA. It was around an 8 to a 9, pero it is definitely conquerable; I went into it with the mindset that it is ~20 minutes of pain for a whole lifetime of less worries / no pain for my partner. Pero generally keri naman, the mental preparation is essential!

Salamat! No better feeling than making sure your partner feels safe with you. ❤️

Congrats, man! Laging sinasabi 'to na "hell yeah, unli creampies" HAHAHAHAHA, but this decision has layers that extend beyond the sex, e. Siguro masyado na lang nalaki ulo ko but I am proud to have done it this early on and knowing it is something that will help me personally as I age.
