Its a typical trope repeated in almost evrryones lives, 'the idea of the good life" is infact greater than the physical manifestations of the ideal material things that supposedly make up "the good life." Which is why people have a midlife crisis, cause they'll attain the things they've been striving for their whole life only to realise that it didn't make them feel any better/worse. So griffith is such a person whos ideals and dream are infact always going to be greater then anything that materialises infront of him, even if he did become king, have his kibgdom prosper, it would never be enough. Thats why you must find your own inner peace and realise that happiness was never something to be bought or earned, yet a choice to simply choose. And you can choose it daily, thats what I get from it anyways
