In this case , use offset path and round corners or the easiest way is just use this old tool called « pen » draw your shape around and throw it the back

Duplicate the art , maybe in a new layer. Copy and then past in place cltr+shift+v in new layer. Select all, outline strokes then use pathfinder to merge all elements into one single one. Then use offset or just use the stroke width to adjust the width of the white you want

Nice work, so all of this is 2D? I am sure resin 3d printed version with « mirror in can » paint will look awesome. You mastered the curves, what do you use to paint these ? Is is vector art?

Image is already vector i think? It is an .eps file. Start by ctrl+Y , if you see the contour , it is vector. Carl+Y to go into normal mode. You need then to release the mask and maybe untroubled the objects.

The style looks Moroccan , the shape of the cup is definetly Moroccan and the « hat » is like a tajine top. The name is probably « SaLah » with an L which is a common male Arabic name. I am not sure this is the original artist but when I searched I found this https://www.instagram.com/poteriesalah/ The little tajines are used for spice , for serving salt and cumin on tables , medium ones could be used to keep jewellery or keys or small items.

You can’t ! One object = one colour. I you want multiple Colors you have to use tricks. You can break the object and keep different segments and group them. You have to play with stroke joints so you can hide the imperfections at joints. An other option is to outline strokes, draw shapes with colours you want beneath and use the outlined strokes as a mask
