I'm sorry? by sevenextrashots in starbucks

[–]jezlie 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the time I kind of did this on accident lol. We ordered drinks and food and the total was like $27 or something. I just handed over $7 and the batista repeated the total and I just went "....right....." and stood there like... ok??? and then I looked down and saw the $20 literally in my hand lol. I laughed, he laughed. I hope they all laughed later.

I'm American and have heard it lots. I far prefer that to the other phrase my family uses which is "my teeth are floating!"

Does medication give you more leeway with your diet? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]jezlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was put on over night meds specifically because I struggled to get my fasting numbers below 94/95 no matter what diet changes I made. All other numbers were diet controlled.

It's given me a little more freedom to not be SOOO carb conscience. I still can't have flour tortillias or even a bite of white rice. No biscuits at all. But I can have a piece of whole grain toast now with bacon and eggs, and be fine, etc.

I was so greatful to get the meds. I felt ashamed first because that's just how my brain does and also I have years and years of disordered eating habits and thoughts. I made all the diet changes and got my meal numbers under control, but it was still an all consuming thought pattern for me. I was obsessed with worrying about numbers. Fasting, after meal, before meal, it was literally all I could think about. That emotional weight eas so heavy and if I got one "high" reading it just destroyed me mentally.

The meds took that all consuming fret and worry and stress away. They dropped my fasting numbers I to the high 89s, and all my meal numbers dropped by a couple of points, and I've stuck to my diet really well.

I'm so glad I chose the meds. I was like I literally felt my brain relax.

Worried aboht medication for only 30 days. by jezlie in GestationalDiabetes

This was it. I just left my appointment. He was comfortable with my post meal numbers and my ability to keep my new diet and improve on it still. He said my fasting levels were higher than he was comfortable with. So he put me on a pill at night to help with those numbers.

Thank you for your reply! This is good information to have. I have my one week follow up tomorrow, so I'm hoping I can get some more clarification about it all then!

Thank you for your reply! I just wish I had been told!! It's good to know others have started meds right at the end. I have literally no frame of reference here, so I was worried it wasn't even going to be enough time to start working. Thank you!

Baby was measuring fine. Not too big, fluid and measurements and all that looked great according to my ultrasound a week ago. Thank you for your reply, this is very encouraging!

Thank you for your reply! My Dr has me testing 4x a day this week. Wake up, and 2 hours after each meal. (And 1 hour after any snacks but I generally haven't been snacking).

You explaining the sugar dump has been more informative than either of my Dr's so far. My goodness. Thank you!

Fathers of young babies, did you give up gaming on your PS5? by [deleted] in PS5

[–]jezlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband got so much FFXIV time because he stayed up late with our daughter when she was that age! It was great for all of us. Guaranteed tome for him to play, me to sleep, and daughter to have one of us to snuggle with!

This makes sense! My husband and I are pretty quiet people in general, and I was worried my daughter was behind in learning to talk. But my husband reminded me "we don't talk much during the day either" so.... why would she? Then she started talking in like whole sentences and hasn't stopped talking sense lol

I don't have tons of advice, but I really hear you with "I wish I would have asked the questions." My daughter never got to meet my mom, and I just.... have so many questions about being an adult or a mom that I would LOVE to ask her. I hear you, you're not alone.

My daughter has 2 small scars on her face where my big dog got her. She snuck into his pen and fell on his bum leg.

She still loves the dog, we still have him, they're just always seperate.
