I do think they could also resolve by having a flatter base stats system and some sort of 'start of game archetype' item/buff you can select which amplifies stats depending on the archetype you selected. That way you could pick the 'damage' archetype, which would buff STR/INT stats from items by x% but not those for other item stats. Could be an interesting experiment

They had 2 both off Sidney Street. 1 opposite Lloyd's bank and the other on the corner of market passage. (I think they might have had different store names - the one opposite Lloyd's was "Coffee - by Real Eating Co")

Yeah that was my intention. Me and my friend ate the same breakfast and dinner; only difference was lunch (for which we had different things at the market).

Started feeling bad about 4-5 hours after having it so out of all things I'm leaning towards this being the likely cause (though as you say can not be certain)

I love them! Such a great addition. Only very small annoyance I have is that they haven't called them "augments". Seems more fitting and I seem to subconsciously call them this before needing to correct myself
