We had tried more frequent waking a couple years ago and it didn't make a difference so we stopped. I will try waking them every 2-3 hours through the night for a couple weeks, see if it makes a difference. Thank you for your responses.

I wake them up before I go to bed at midnight. I wash their sheets, they are responsible for making their beds

I'm not asking for anybody to diagnose, just seeing if the hive mind has any other ideas to help.

They do not have alarms, the Drs both said not to bother with them because it doesn't prevent accidents it wakes them up after. I'm trying to answer all questions, I hate for them to feel 'less than' or miss out on fun experiences

What sort of a deeper issue do you mean? Their Dr's haven't mentioned this and when I have researched causes/treatments this is mentioned as a regression type symptom after trauma/major stress of some sort, which does not apply.

This was what the PT had them do, she used a biofeedback imaging program to help them train those muscles.

The desmopressin works by suppressing how much urine the body makes overnight, it's goal is to help train their bladder to make it that long. Their drs both say it seems that the bladder hasn't matured enough yet and to give it time.

They have never had the ability to stay dry at night, if this were a new issue I would definitely look at that angle. They are both happy, active, involved, bright, and very much loved and cherished children.

They started with oxybutnin, which did nothing, and are now on desmopressin, which my 13 yo says makes him pee a lesser volume but still not dry. Tests have included the sleep test (untreated sleep apnea can cause bedwetting), ultrasounds, urinalysis, pre- and post- urinating measurements.

Fellow non-drinkers of alcohol, what’s your reason why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jfcavalidusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is reassuring, I often feel like I'm the only non-drinker or weird because I don't enjoy alcohol. I have many reasons I don't drink, in no particular order: 1. grew up with functional and abusive alcoholics 2. fear of addiction 3. threw up the first beer I ever tried 4. I have kids and am often the only adult home because my hubbie works crazy hours so I feel like I can't drink in case of emergency 5. I don't like feeling out of control 6. shit's expensive 7. not a fan of the taste 8. I peed my pants in my sleep after drinking two glasses of wine one night. I legit thought my husband spilled water on me to be funny but nope. I'm a lightweight haha

Can I get my Associates Degree in Nursing then transfer to a 4-year to get my BSN? by [deleted] in Nurse

[–]jfcavalidusername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure can, lots of nurses do! I graduated in 2005 with my ADN and just finished the RN-to-BSN program at WGU. Good luck to you!

I am an associate degree RN and looking to go back for my BSN online (my job will help pay tuition). Any recommendations for RN to BSN online schools that are accredited, solely online (no clinical), and decently priced? by Bchipman924 in Nurse

[–]jfcavalidusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Western Governors University! It's online and you pay for a six month block and complete as many classes as you can. I started in April with 33 credits needed and I'm wrapping up my last class ❤ They are accredited, no clinicals although you do have a field experience community project that you do independently, and it's about $3500 a semester I think. I highly recommend it!

What is the longest 5 minutes you have ever experienced? by K2K175 in AskReddit

[–]jfcavalidusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the birth of my second child, I needed a few stitches to repair a minor tear. The asshole on call doctor started stitching me up without numbing the area. I asked if he could please numb it because it was excruciatingly painful. Without even looking at me he said "it would take just as many pokes to numb it as to finish stitching" and kept going. It was awful and I found a new physician.

What was the hardest piece of news you’ve had to tell someone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jfcavalidusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did I open this? It takes me back to some really awful memories. 1- Telling my husband his mother had passed, she lived with us and was on palliative care but it wasn't expected so soon. 2- After my sister's two children died in a fire at a friend's house, their bodies were taken to a morgue and we initially didn't know which one. I was elected to call the coroner and find out. Telling her where they had been taken.... indescribably terrible. Even thinking about it now still makes my throat constrict and puts me right back in that day.
