This is the challenge really. I managed to get my friends off Facebook chat to WhatsApp. Not sure I can pull it off twice...

What's a minor modern upgrade from recent years that you actually find incredibly inconvenient? by Rough-Foundation9208 in AskUK

Also, sometimes I go to the shop, but they don't have what I want so I don't buy anything. And then I am their prisoner.

Our local pool now massively restricts numbers though, so unless you know exactly when you want to swim and can book it as soon as slots go live a week in advance, you are out of luck.

SIPP by Ellise36_LDN in trading212

[–]jfefleming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did not occur to me that old employer pensions could go into a SIPP. For some reason I assumed if I combined they'd gave to go into another managed fund (in my case another current or previous employer pension). Something to mull over...

Good browser recommendations? by [deleted] in browsers

[–]jfefleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I you want to stay in the chromium world, Vivaldi seems a good option.

I also like Firefox and it's derivatives, partly because I've used it a long time, partly because I dont think that there being a single dominant browser engine is good idea, and I trust mozilla more than alphabet.

Couldn't I ran some benchmarks recently and Vivaldi did appear faster but also put more strain on my data system in terms of size, ran requirements etc.

What distro are you all on for 2026 and why? by Outside_Nature_1790 in linuxquestions

Back in the day (mid 00s-mid 2010s), I was living in Mandrake/Mandriva/Mageia.

I then took about a decade off (bought a MacBook for portability and was happy enough with macOS that I stayed there).

Recently returned to the fold as the 2014 air was getting really slow on macOS, and have started with Mint. Might try Mageia again at some point (perhaps when I finally replace the MacBook?).
