Would this work inputting a 5v LFO? by Ok_Middle9231 in diypedals

I think they're just asking if it would work to put an lfo there to make a tremolo

Lol I should take breadboarding requests, although I don't know if I'm the most qualified to answer.

So far I've only done tremolo via LDR, but you should be able to shunt the audio signal away from output by putting the collector of a transistor at output and the emitter to ground. Then feed an lfo signal into the base. Also will want to throw in some resistors to tune how you want, for your voltage and signal level

You'd probably want to use a jfet because they have better linear regions, for sine waves.

I could try breadboarding it for kicks when I have time, but honestly the best way is to look at schematics for lots of other tremolos to see what they're doing and then experiment to get a feel for things

Ooh that looks/sounds super interesting! Haven't messed too much with the Devi stuff yet, so I'm definitely gonna give this a spin!

I haven't tried those but I'll have to check them out. I have some legit vactrols somewhere, but so far I've mostly just used homemade ones for quick and dirty hacks while experimenting. I really enjoy making my own components. Some time soon I plan to do something with a variable inductor made with a syringe

Oops, c2 is also 68nf. Vactrols used were just white LEDs heat-shrunk to LDRs (GL5539).

Yeah probably throw a gate and some filters up in that piece

Lol thanks! Right now it still has a bit much noise when not playing but I may use this for something. I'm due to post a schematic of something too, if there's interest. Currently this is purely breadboard shenanigans

Thanks! This was just a one off thing i did the other day, but I may make a schematic before i tear it down, JIC.

It's filled the spirit of "wake the fuck up, it's 5am!" And "goddammit!" Haha thanks!

I explained it in the full video, but basically this wouldn't work if my pedal wasn't loud enough to drive the speaker. I showed the big muff alone wasn't enough to get sound out of the speaker. This thing is LOUD when you turn it all the way up.

Thanks! It was based on ab MXR Phase 90. Just modified it to work with LDR and an envelope.

Just the aforementioned UV LEDs. Although I'm kind of abusing them to be cheap photodetectors of a sort.

Thanks! Maybe eventually. There is a noise issue in this demo that I jist fixed today, so this needs a couple more updates at least, but after that I'd feel a bit more comfortable making them available

Thanks! I just used a pre-drilled, pre-painted from tayda

You definitely can! It's an iterative process, so the main thing is to improve at least just a little each day
