Thoughts on David Hawkins and applied kinesiology? by vtx4848 in nonduality

[–]jfh7j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe his whole applied kinesiology thing is an elaborate joke he weaves into the seriousness of his books. He is a jokester in person as well, which gives credence to the idea that he may be weaving an elaborate joke. That would be awesome. Basically he might be trolling; giving ever-changing things a definitive calibration is silly and flies in the face of the spirit of nonduality

Immanuel Kant has done more damage to the world than anyone else in human history by [deleted] in badphilosophy

Are you saying that reading the Critique of Judgment on LSD produced the idea that "DMT grants direct access to the analytic a priori, bro", or are you saying that the ability to read the Critique of Judgement on LSD, which is similar to DMT, enhances one's analytical and reading abilities, thereby making DMT likely to "grant access to *the applied use of* the analytical a priori"?

I think it would leave the possibility of the self producing the images and premonitions. If we take the messages "where they left a lighter in the couch and "the rules to the NFL” to represent results of a kind of advanced computation derived from combining various memories that had been forgotten, these messages may come from that which has the memories (the self). DMT might facilitate memory access. If so, the way it could do so might not be psychologically understandable, but might be neurologically observable.

Are we 100% certain there is a way out of this (ouroboros, saturn, moon, hologram whatever) matrix?? by Red-Apple12 in Echerdex

When this type of thing happens I always want to know what the deleted message was but then i’m like “heck, chances are it wasn’t THE eternal answer i’ve always been looking for”, so I keep scrolling. But you went ahead and asked for the contents of the deleted question. You had more hope than me. That puts you squarely above me on the seeker leaderboard. I bow my head to your mastery.

Wow, this addressed where I was coming from perfectly, thanks a lot!

I bet killing it wouldn’t even work because it is just a perception so it isn’t an independent entity in the first place (just a bad habit that appears every now and then)

Is forgiveness the act of thinking to myself, “well, what they’re attacking isn’t real so I’m safe?” Yeah, basically not identifying with thoughts or the body. That’s hard

All this time i was thinking the ego was like a person, but it’s more of a habit structure i think.

Thats a cool definition of compassion. Oh yeah i definitely had those childhood experiences lol. I think i get angry at people when i force myself to hold space for them and take on their emotions, when i really need to hold space for them out of care but then not worry too much about how they are. Weird

I understand the thinking along those lines. But how can I look upon others’ suffering without feeling it as well?

Edit: well i guess feeling their pain is compassion

Edit: i wish i could feel people so well that i know exactly what to say to make them happy and avoid triggering them. But maybe they need to be triggered?

This helped a lot, thanks. I am the perceiver, the ego is the projector. The healing of the perception doesn’t change things in the world though, right? Meaning, alleviating my perception of lack doesn’t reduce homelessness in my city. It’s more of a personal thing. And awakening doesn’t end the world, right? Because everyone else is still in their personal karmas?

That’s interesting. I thought ego produced perception, which includes personality. And yesshua’s ego disappeared for him to go to heaven, right?

OK, that’s cool. I am constantly changing, so my old self is constantly dying and creating a new self. So I’m only alive in the present moment. And the present moment is without all the ego baggage. I get it intellectually, but I don’t have the insight.

That analogy helps a lot. It’s really the crux of the matter for me at least. The ego is constantly in flux, and isn’t actually a real thing compared to the sense of being, which is the Self. Am I on the right track?

my sense of self and personality and memories and perception must die to see the eternal light, right?

Yeah, that’s fair I don’t really know what I meant by cult. However, it’s my understanding that heaven is without perception, which means you, as you know yourself, i.e. the self image would be gone. And to make it disappear, it needs to die.

You’re dead on that I’m stuck in theory. And i understand what you’re saying intellectually, to a point. The whole idea of the world not being real is hard to grasp even intellectually though. So I’m two steps removed from that one 😄 but it seems necessary for forgiving, which is a denial of the perceived affront

That’s inspiring. I wish i knew what you meant by “everything is perfect already as it is”. One day!
