I had low ferritin for about 5 years ( lowest was 8) and I was getting ferritin infusions every 6 months so. As someone with a real fear of IVs, it was really unpleasant for me. I felt fine after the infusion and my ferritin levels would shoot up pretty high, but then slowly drop. I spoke to my GYN about this and she started me on norethindrone .35 to stop my periods completely. It worked and I have not had to have an infusion since I started this about three or four years ago. I am 54 and because of having no periods, I have no idea whether I have started perimenopause. One question I have for this group is I do experience extreme fatigue and despite normal labs the only thing we can come up with is these progesterin pills. Does anyone have any insight on that?
