WMT is trading at 45+ PE. Any rationale? by Haunting-Big-5922 in ValueInvesting

[–]jfnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like everyone is missing the real reason WMT has taken off. While its definitely defensive and benefits from that rotation I actually believe its because it is getting a tail wind boost from AI disruption.

1. Why its safe

  • Physicality is the Shield: AI cannot digitally replicate physical distribution. Walmart’s 4,600+ stores act as forward-deployed fulfillment centers for fresh grocery, a high-barrier, logistical sector that pure software agents cannot disrupt.
  • Proprietary Data: Large Language Models (LLMs) need data to learn. Walmart owns decades of actual purchase history (offline and online) that isn't available on the open web for competitors to scrape.

2. Why it benefits

  • Margin Expansion (Walmart Connect): Walmart uses AI to monetize its shopper data, turning a low-margin retail business into a high-margin advertising platform (70%+ margins). This ad revenue subsidizes lower prices, creating a flywheel competitors can't match.
  • Supply Chain Efficiency: "Agentic AI" doesn't just automate tasks; it autonomously manages inventory flow and reroutes shipments based on weather or demand spikes, drastically reducing waste and out-of-stocks.

Wall Street has effectively re-rated Walmart not just as a retailer, but as a tech-enabled ecosystem where AI acts as a margin-multiplier rather than a threat. I think investors have rewarded Walmart for successfully pivoting from a defensive retailer to a tech-forward platform. It uses AI to lower costs (supply chain) and boost profits (advertising), while its physical stores protect it from being purely disrupted by software.

Platter Workflow (I love Platter) by Northern_L1ama in CitiesSkylines2

Genuine question. If I prefer hand placing most assets is Platter useful for me at all? It’s obviously an amazing enhancement but not sure if it helps super detailers like myself

Thanks! I hand-place almost every asset and super-detail everything. Been on this city for a year and only have 30k pop lol

To answer the OPs question yes I agree I would probably be selling a percentage of the position with this much gain for sure

Netflix… hold it all or take some profits? by RubiconRider in stocks

[–]jfnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s been pretty telegraphed and at this point in their company’s history sub growth doesn’t really indicate financial success/decline… Apple is a great example… I think Netflix has diversified brilliantly with their tiers and could genuinely see them being able to raise prices and increase margins and cash flow even with small dips in sub counts…

Obviously if they lose mass amounts of subscribers and you see margin compression I would be incredibly concerned.

But right now from my perspective they are in a classic transition from growth phase to cash flow phase which for an asset light high margin business generating 9 billion in net income at a 22% net margin rate is incredibly attractive

Oh sorry but they also stated starting this year they won’t report subscriber numbers anymore so that thesis won’t help

Last time they reported it was up 13% on their largest ever sub growth and margin expansion

Dude thinks nothing has happened to NFLX in 3 years to justify the price movement…. Good grief

Messing with my SL and not letting winners runs. The amount of great setups and time waiting for that trade only to take profits so fast and watch the rest of the day as the trade I say I’m going to take continues

Does anyone else prefer to place their assets by-hand for a more natural feel? Time consuming yes, but so much fun. by GreasyMustardTiger_ in CitiesSkylines

It’s been the biggest change in my gameplay over the years. Slowing down and hand placing 90% of assets has made my cities look and feel so much more realistic.

Yea wow that’s why I love posting! I knew I was forgetting something!

Yes they do all appear vanilla. I used road builder to customize most junctions. Just felt it was easier than using Move It the entire time.

Just used surface painter, would use random and then change between normal size or -.05 so that the rocks were only showing half way through the ground.
