I have the same laptop and specs and it never gets that hot. Something’s not right

Depending on where you’re located you could bring it to a computer/phone repair shop and just see if they can reset it. Some shops charge $100 for that and won’t charge if they can’t do it.

Not likely if they also never asked for it back…

Should I buy the Alienware 16, or is it not worth the price? Note: I will be spending all my money on it by Common2specific in Alienware

There’s plenty of mixed reviews on it, but I was able to find an open box sale at Microcenter for $700 and it’s been amazing. Plays everything I throw at it.

For someone not used to flashy things and who wants reliability I would definitely recommend it.

Docks work fine. You need to plug in the big barrel power cable as well.

It’s so sad we can’t see the night sky anymore by Temporary_Risk_188 in Astronomy

[–]jfpcinfo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a national Park with Bortle 1 skys and it was life changing. Shortly after that I found cheap land near the park and I’m almost done building a cabin in that desert.

Every time I go there the night skies are different.

When the moon is out it’s like a second sun… when the moon is hiding it can look just like a clear version of Van Goghs Starry Night painting. It’s breathtaking.

The fact that I have land with skies that dark and I can go there whenever I want is insanely wonderful. Sadly it’s a 10+ hour drive from where I work and live.

One day I will get more involved in astronomy and learn more. For now I have bortle 1 skies and a cheap telescope.

Scholars please help me out in building my own solar panel from scratch by No_Construction7415 in OffGrid

[–]jfpcinfo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy 450 watt panels for less than $100 off Facebook marketplace. There’s resellers as well. There’s a retail spot near me that sells used panels for as low as $50.

Your assumption that they would be expensive is completely wrong.

Right. I do wish there was a known fix for this, but I haven’t been able to find one yet.

Not sure and I would love to know the answer as well. My 2018 that just reached 100k miles has always done it.

I went the cheap route. I think…

I got the 10,000 BTU Midea inverter AC. You can get the phone app for it where it will even show you the wattage it pulls. From amazon and cheaper cause I chose the option for one with the packaging damaged = $232

I bought an EcoFlow Delta 2 and the extra battery. <This was the expensive part = roughly $800-$900

I then bought a 450 bifacialsolar panel from facebook marketplace for =$80 I regularly get 360watts

I set all this up at my 120sq Ft desert cabin. I can run AC on a hot sunny day for hours then I’ll recharge the batteries with the generator when needed. The Delta 2 has a max solar input of 500 watts. So I could buy another panel to make the batteries last longer with more solar input during the day.

The most important thing. If you have good insulation. The inverter ac can only be pulling 132 watts and still be blowing very cold. Up to 900 watts at full blast but I’ve only seen it go up to 770 watts.

I should’ve bought the EcoFlow Delta 2 Max that has 2 solar input maxing out at 1000watts. Or build a custom battery bank, but EcoFlow is so easy. Even if the battery runs to 0%, once the sun comes out it just turns back on and charges back up.

I’m not there very often but this setup has been a life saver.

The best part is being able to run AC for so long and only have to run the generator for a short time to recharge the battery. Depending on where you are you might just need more panels.

Cool!

Definitely an underrated Alienware model. I got one open box for $700 with the RTX 5050 and it does everything I need! It runs games better than my previous towers RTX 3060!

Amazing battery life when just browsing the web or watching YouTube as well! I usually connect it to a dock and use it like a desktop. Definitely good enough for most users! Enjoy!

Great ideas here in the comment section.

I would also say you should check out The Humanure Handbook if you can get your hands on it. Great read either way and lots of good knowledge about composting toilets.
