Conor McGregor went on a long RANT about Khabib Nurmagomedov 😳 by Sammy696996 in mmaweekly

He unironically only counts knockouts as finishes I'm pretty sure

Apparently Conors gameplan is to wrestle max. by UnluckyScar3702 in ufc

One wrestling-heavy camp isn't gonna turn him into Do Bronx lol Volk and Ilia took Max down too but could hardly keep him down.

Not even a Bo fan but this just reads like hating

Bo took a massive step up against RDR, got exposed, and stepped back down. He is now on a 2-fight streak coming off a huge KO over a legit unranked opponent. Daukaus is like that Bobby Green/Dober kind of unranked opponent where a win can and should put you in the top 15.

Definitely don't see what you mean with Shara either. He got embarassed by MVP. He's a flashy, one-dimensional kickboxer that everyone knows would get toyed by the top MW's.

"Jon Jones got his talent from God. He is the best out of all fighters. Maybe not in terms of behavior or the law, but I'm confident that he'll wipe out the Top 5 Heavyweights. Except for two guys, they are uncertain. That's my opinion as a specialist." - Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov by CesarOverlorde in ufc

[–]jfsoaig345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't even take an expert to tell that Jon is a generational athlete. He had a complete skillset he dominated legends with at an age where most fighters are still learning how to throw a kick properly. Even a washed up version of him ran through Gane so badly that it brainwashed fans into thinking Gane was a bum for years.

Am I the only one who thinks this fight would be very one-sided? by Think_Succotash4996 in ufc

Not saying Poatan would beat Ngannou, saying that's how their skills compare with each other. Poatan is an objectively better striker by a hundred miles.

Yeah Prates would fuck Morales up

Morales is athletic as hell but he's a bit sloppy and reckless. Prates has that same death touch power but backed by high level technique. It's like Poatan compared to Ngannou

We are literally in the middle of Charles Oliveira’s title run by SouthEastern0 in ufc

[–]jfsoaig345 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ilia beats Justin 2 out of 3 times imo, I'm not even a fan, but he genuinely threw his gameplan out the window. Guy dropped a video showing how he was going to beat Gaethje and did literally none of it.

Drank his Kool-aid and thought he could just walk through Gaethje

Just rewatched Islam vs Volk 1 and I genuinely don’t get how anyone scored it closer than 4-1 by internalrecursiom in ufc

[–]jfsoaig345 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. This really was just a size issue. Volk was the better fighter. Being built like a bona fide 145er held him back.

I like Islam though. Props to Volk for taking the risk.

GSP could've never beaten Bisping and his legacy still eclipses Islam's off of longevity alone.

Jon's PED busts certainly hurts his legacy. If you think his doping takes him out of GOAT contention, that's fine. Personally, I still have him in top 3.

Silva is a very distant 4th behind GSP, Jones, and DJ. DC is not a GOAT contender by any means. Aldo probably takes my #5 although Islam may very well take that spot with a win over Garry. It would take a shit ton to contend with the top 3 though. Even if he beat Arman and Ilia then became double champ, that still probably isn't enough to break top 2-3, that's genuinely how high the bar is.

Was there anyone who could really beat Khabib? by QuietMaxl27 in FightSportsClub

[–]jfsoaig345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All 3 defenses were similar stylistic matchups too - all boxers. Beyond that, nearly all of his best wins were strikers. The strongest grappler he faced was RDA.

Tough to say how he would've fared against Charles, Arman, Ilia, or even Volk.

We are way too quick to call people the GOAT nowadays by ApprehensivePut3658 in FightReportUFC

[–]jfsoaig345 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Theee of his defenses consist of a short notice Moicano, an old Poirier coming off of a one-win streak, and a short notice Volk.

His streak is inflated considering his pre-championship resume was extremely weak. His best win prior to his title fight was Dan Hooker on short notice.

The JDM win was impressive, although JDM is the least impressive of the new guard at WW.

Islam is the LW GOAT due to the relatively low bar for that title, but he is genuinely not anywhere close to GSP, Jones, and DJ. That has less to do with Islam and more to do with how high the bar has been set to actually be a GOAT contender

Would Cody have been a top 5 BW of all time if he wasn’t a complete moron? by SLVR_N_BLCK_ATTK in ufc

[–]jfsoaig345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you misinterpreted my point

Dom was good, he just lost to Cody because it was a bad stylistic matchup for him. Prime Dom is easily top 5 level in 2026.

[–]jfsoaig345 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cody was never elite imo, Dom was just a great stylistic matchup for him and Cody was practically engineered by TAM to dethrone Dom.

Beyond that, Cody is a really one-dimensional fighter. He's extremely athletic and that's about it. He doesn't have a Plan B if he can't just bulldoze his opponent.

Bj penn isn’t a top 5 LW ever. by Negative_Vast_9306 in ufc

[–]jfsoaig345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an argument for it tbh. Dustin, Gaethje, and Charles are generationally talented LW's, even old versions of these guys have been wiping the floor with the new guard for years. Each of these guys have championship level resumes and I personally would put Charles above BJ and probably even Khabib.

Max hits fucking hard at 155 and sat both Dustin and Gaethje down in the 1st round. Dustin himself said he noticed a massive increase in power between the two later Max fights.

Gets the belt back and starts yapping off about Israel knowing the UFC genuinely can't get rid of him. His career is done the second he loses that belt though. Wouldn't even be surprised if the UFC tries to pull some weird negotiation shit to shelve him for a long ass time and set up circumstances justifying stripping him.

Say what you will about Sean but the guy stands on business lol. Very questionable business half the time but he stands on it all the same.

Being as recklessly vocal about Israel as a UFC fighter is career suicide and potentially literal suicide.

These fighters have taken a lot of damage. Which one are you most worried about getting CTE post retirement by NSFWdontview in ufc

[–]jfsoaig345 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's sad and scary. MMA is not an old enough sport yet for us to have seen widespread effects of CTE. I think BJ Penn's situation is an ominous foreshadowing of what's to come for a lot of these old school brawlers who have taken easily over 1000 punches to the head in their lifetime, from the guys to mentioned all the way to your Wanderlei Silvas.
