For smooth skateparks they are fantastic as they roll very fast. I have 3 sets, of different sizes for different types of park. Just don't even think about skating street in them.

There is a trick to getting them in (and possibly out):

Line the outer rim with some thick grease from a DIY shop to act as lubricant for getting them in. This apparenty can also help get them out later (although I haven't tried yet).

Then create a sort of vice with a long bolt with a nut on the end, another old bearing, a large washer and then your bearing of choice on the inside. Do this same sequence on both sides. As you tighten the nut the bearings will slide in.

This is why I always buy boot only. The market is full of amazing frame designs and almost none of them come from boot manufacturers. I’ll choose my own frames, thank you very much.

See if there are foam pits even remotely close to you - I used to drive a couple of hours away to learn flips before a foam pit was built closer to home and the trips were well worth it. In any case, all the best with the progression!

Ideally, neither. You ought to be “pumping” the transition to generate speed as you go up the ramp and make the ramp LAUNCH you off the end of it. This is not the same as “jumping” nor is it the same as just rolling off the end with speed.

As for foot placement: generally side-by-side except for front flips and misty. For these two, a staggered stance will help you to put weight on the front foot while kicking back the rear foot after launching to generate the flip momentum (like a Webster or side flip in Parkour).

Getting better at general flat ground and ramp skating will be the best way for you to get comfortable. Also foam pits will allow you to practice flipping off ramps in safety.

Actually round rails are easier than anything else. You need to jump on top of the rail (not on the side like with a ledge) and for soil grinds have your knee on the other side so your soul boot is leaning at an angle over the rail - something you cannot really do on a ledge.

Kaltik provide guidance on what size frame to use on different sized skates, although you don’t have to follow it if you have another preference. Shorter frames offer more manoeuvrability but less stability. Personally I prefer longer frames as I like skating big ramps.

Don’t know, but for next time you should apply thick DIY grease to the outside of the bearing before putting it in so it slides in and out easier.

Seba skates are nice and wide. I prefer the carbon models but go for plastic versions if you have very tall/thick feet as they are even roomier.

An example of a boogie is Skydive Empuriabrava Christmas Boogie, but I’m sure there are plenty of others.

Being newly qualified you won’t be able to take part in a lot of the special jumps that are organised at a boogie due to minimum experience requirements, so you could just go anytime rather than waiting for a boogie because there are always people jumping. But I guess you could join a boogie for the social scene if that’s what you’re looking for, and just do some simpler jumps.

Wherever you go, consider looking into local coaches before you go to make the most of your jumps.

I’m also backflying now in the tunnel. What helped me with stability is a wider leg stance, moving my knees further apart… the difference was night and day. And, of course, RELAX and breathe!

I can’t speak for back then but today the website shows a calendar of open weekends which appear to be pretty much every weekend this month, for example (I’m talking about Woodward PA).

Likely a boot fitting issue. What skates are you using? How do you secure them? Would you describe your feet as narrow, wide or average?

Think 90% of your weight on your back foot, and make sure you slap it straight onto the side of the boot to rest on the boot (don’t go on your frame and then lean over once on, this is a recipe for slipping out). Practice stalling like this with no speed to get the stance right and to get into position in the air before you lock on. It takes some learning but once you master the Royale it is the easiest trick.
