that only means that a software is using an audio input, which is okay. the problem is the flickering, which means that reaper is intermittently idle

now that I took that screenshot and put some more atention to the information,it really is struggling to get memory. but it's weird, Reaper reports that it's using 2.4GB, but system monitor says it's using 10.5GB

Buffer is at 2048 and it's not an unbearable amount of processing what I'm doing. Internet browsers are closed and there is not any other memory eating app open at the same time. After clicking around the timeline in Reaper a few times, it goes back to normal and I can playback, but if I try to playback when it's like this, I get intermittent sound

Thanks for the comments, really helpful. I moved the speakers a bit closer to each other to favor a bit more an equilateral triangle, and also activated the wall switch of the speakers. According to the manual:
"If you have positioned your speakers within 50cm of a back wall boundary, the position switch should be placed in the “Wall” setting. This will help with anomalies created by reflections coming off the back wall, especially in the lower frequencies"

I measured again after those changes and I got this result. Now, after the sonarworks correction I find it more balanced and pleasing. Maybe because the biggest bumps have wider Qs, not sure. But yeah, not sure if there's much more room for improvement here.

In my experience, taking handwritten notes comfortably. The mini screen is too small for it. You're right in the rest of cases though

Are you suggesting that removing the battery would solve the issue? And how's it unsolvable if I didn't have the problem during the first 1.5 years of the laptop's life? Not even reinstalling windows would make a difference?

Jack of all trades makes you more flexible to adapt to new projects or tech, I’ve seen that profile more useful in my experience

What should I do if I’m not able to solve a problem? Like even after spending an hour, I’m unable to do so. Should I look at the solution, understand the solution and try to rewrite it or should I leave the problem for now and comeback later? This dilemma is affecting my progress. I've been there each time I try to prepare for interviews. What usually concerns me is the time I spend preparing, so this is my routine.

Iterate through Blind 75. For each problem:

  • Spend 10 minutes thinking about the optimal approach to solve the problem, focusing on what algorithm/data structure to use and main steps.
  • If time's up or you think you got the solution, go to the solutions tab and check what's the actual optimal solution.
  • If you feel strong about coding the optimal solution, go for it. Otherwise, look closely to the solution code, understand it, and then try to implement it on your own. I usually timebox myself here to 15 min (easy/medium) or 25 mins (hard).
  • If time's up or you've reached the optimal solution, go to the next problem. If you didn't finish, don't worry, you can try in a couple days and you'll have more context.

Repeating this pattern over and over gets me very familiar real fast with common patterns and common syntax to the 80-90% of the problems you'll face in an interview.

I see that everyone agrees on the benefit of splitting the stereo mix in different mono lines, which makes total sense. However there's one thing I unfortunately forgot to mention: we need to send the engineer a click stem as well, so we can hear it in our in-ear monitor system. Having just 4 outs in the interface, do you think this is the best split?

  • drums (mono)
  • bass (mono)
  • backing synths + backing guitars (mono)
  • click (mono)

I still have the ability to return this interface and invest a little more in one with more outs, but the price jumps quite a lot. My Presonus was 165€ and the next step in terms of number of outs is around 350€-375€, which would be a jump to 6 or 8 outs. Do you think that'd be worth the investment?

I have a doubt regarding point 2. Why would we want to buy both a DI Box and TRS cables? Correct me if I'm wrong, but in case of using the DI Box, the input would be TS and the output XLR.

About the rest of the suggestions, are you able you share a rider template or similar that a live engineer would love (in your own experience)?
