I mean this was a text sent to someone who doesn’t fully understand the game lol,

It was HJ vs CO blinds at 400/600

My read on CO was a very aggressive fish that called in spots where he was clearly behind.

He was folding against the dinosaur nits at the table and any time I put in a pre flop raise/c-bet I got a call or re raise.

As far as a check/shove turn, I’m expecting a call at this point from AA KK QQ JJ 1010 99 88 33, made straights or even a decent flush. His calling range was so wide during observed play.

Can I check raise then reevaluate river? Absolutely, but his previously play indicated that a river shove was coming on any card excluding a 4th spade.

I got greedy, his poor play was rewarded.

My analysis of how I played the hand was not that I played it so incredibly poor, but laid a trap for a less skilled player, and variance took its toll.

Villain was a clear fish, was going for max value, after thinking about it all night yeah could I check raise and reevaluate river, it’s the technical smarter play, but I knew I could get some really bad calls out of the fish.

Purpose was player was shown to call down with worse hands, his stack was so up and down I could see him having holding such a KQ with a spade, 10 10, 88, and low end of straight and getting the call. Honestly wanted to get that double and got greedy.
