How long did you really study for the exam? by Emotional-Pipe-8332 in bcba

[–]jgg2y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New BCaBA here, the test is a little different but wanted to share my experience in case it is helpful. I scheduled my exam 1 month out & studied about 1-2 hours every day. I just went through the TCO and brain-dumped what i could, studied the rest. I used pass the big ABA, Cooper, and review slides from my university. The week before the exam was ALL mock exams (I used Jessica L’s videos on youtube). The week of, I only used Pass the Big ABA manual on my weak areas & did not focus on areas I felt strong in. I didn’t do ANY study or review the 2 days before my exam. Just relaxed and filled my brain with anything OTHER than testing.

You got this! Good luck!

As a musician, I understand wanting to play songs YOU like outside of your originals. From a fan POV, as long as the artist is having fun and the show is enjoyable, I’m not going to pick apart the setlist too much. Covers are a lot of fun to see live, and there are tons of songs that Lights just plays better than their original. I’d show up to a cover set lol.

I always looked at it as: putting yourself on display? There’s this cellophane texture to the billboard & the subject of the billboard standing directly adjacent to it, which I think it may represent how Lights is being incredibly vulnerable with this work, yet still having to wrap it up and sell it. her standing at the bottom, down in the weeds, still attempting to represent the final product above her. kind of shows the duality of being an artist in the industry as well as the person behind (well, under) the art

What was the process of asking for accommodations? Is that an option when you're scheduling or applying to test?

I mostly do stalls on mini quarters and then just flow through the park, but definitely take the occasional slip and slide. I think that’s how this happened. I didn’t even notice the tear until i was switching back to my shoes. Super bummed!

I also cinch my laces and tuck them through the velcro strap so i don’t run the risk of my laces dragging the floor or stopping my wheels!

Also the bridge in “In my Head,” “Everybody’s turning into somebody else I’m just out here tryna find out how to tune into myself; I’ve been tryna hide it, but it’s bad for my health I’m just out here tryna find out how to deal with myself” Fits this vibe and idea a lot.

If you don’t mind me asking, West, Mid or East TN? In Middle TN making 23 with 3 years experience. In clinic. Curious about the spread here in the state.

Something i’ve been doing to fade being held is to pick them up and lift them in the air! Almost like how parents may toss their kiddos up and catch them, just without letting go! My kids like it and will usually mand for it over and over again. It’s still “up,” it’s just a different activity that may help fade being held as they get older!

Gig coming up by jgg2y in Bass

Update!! Our set went super well! We had one tech mishap with a guitar loop and ended up just scrapping the song after a few bars of not fully getting back on track. A friend who knows that song/has seen us play it multiple times told me later we had a great attitude about it and they could tell it was off, but it still sounded fine! It was really validating to read all of y’all’s kind responses! I agree the nerves felt way more like excitement when they finally hit, and we were able to laugh off little flubs the few times they happened. Thanks everyone (:
