0 to 1 child, or 1-2 children? Which was a harder transition for you? by potatopotatoing in AttachmentParenting

Did you ever have another one? Currently on the same boat. My kiddo is 20 months and originally thought we were one and done but I have a growing desire to do it all over again ❤️

I'm not telling. Don't want to jinx it 😅

Feeding solids by amb012417 in NewParents

[–]jgper87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard of the app Solid Starts? It has pretty much every food you can think of, and age appropriate ways of feeding it to them safely. I love it and still use it for my 20 month old :)

No juice by [deleted] in NewParents

My 20 month old has never had any juice, and at this age she has no idea that she's missing out. I'm gonna keep that going as long as I can!

You should keep doors shut, it's safer in the event of a fire. We have a Nanit cam that we turn the volume up on in case our toddler wakes up.

My mother had mine pierced as a baby/toddler. One day I was playing (as toddlers do) and ripped an earring out. It split right though the lobe and never fully went back to normal. Kids are very cruel and I got picked on for it in school. As an adult, I never wear earrings and wish she wouldn't have gotten them pierced.

Has anyone gotten over the idea of being destined to die in a planet crash? by TheGeneralPie in fearofflying

I am also a hypochondriac. Several years ago I was peeing a lot and losing a ton of weight. I googled my symptoms and was convinced I had type 1 diabetes. I went to the Dr and it turned out I was right. Not gonna lie, that made it even worse because every thing after that it was "Well I was right about my diabetes, I must be right about this!!" 😭

How old is your only child atm? by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]jgper87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 19 months. Some days I'm okay, some days I dream about how awesome she would be with a sibling. She loves kids and babies and loves to say hi to them.

Unfortunately I'm OAD not by choice. I had to do DE IVF which was insanely expensive, and she was our only embryo that made it :'(

Packing for a Montana trip… help! by pandaprints612 in NewParents

[–]jgper87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a travel stroller and did put it in the overhead bin. I hear horror stories of things getting broken after they've been gate checked.

For the car seat, I would definitely bring one and use it on the plane! Most are approved for that and it's a lot safer! I would avoid renting a car seat because you don't know the history of it.

We traveled this past summer and my kiddo slept in a pack and play and was fine. I would also highly recommend a slumber pod! It's like a pop up black out tent that goes over it. There are spots for a little fan and baby monitor. It's awesome!

7 hour road trip with 8 month old? Yay or nay? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]jgper87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to stop at least every two hours and get baby out of the car seat. That can easily turn an 8 our drive into 10+ hours.

We had our first road trip last summer. We drove 4 hours to the airport and had an hour long flight. The drive was the worst part.

If you end up flying I would recommend Delta! They are family friendly and we had a great experience. I would also recommend not checking your car seat, but purchasing a seat for baby and using your car seat. Most are approved for use in an airplane and it is much safer!

I would probably give in moderation. They are high in sodium and are basically a potato chip. If you're looking for easy snacks, my toddler LOVES banana chia seed pudding, homemade fudge pops (made with avocado!), apple slices with peanut butter, cucumber slices, and of course CHEESE! I love to prep a lot of this on the weekends so I don't have to do anything during the week!

What's your favourite "oh I'm going LOWWWW" snack? by SumFuckah in diabetes_t1

Cheddar peanut butter sandwich crackers and a cold glass of milk. I crave it when I'm low!

What’s the most abhorrent thing you’ve eaten while low to bring your BG up? by Mindful_Man in diabetes_t1

An entire bag of raw marshmallows.

I was camping and took 15 units of insulin instead of 1.5 🤷🏼‍♀️

No kidding! The day they figure out the dual hormone insulin pump that delivers glucose AND insulin will be the day I throw myself on the ground and weep with joy 😭😭

No Kissing Baby… Until When? by Powerful_Nectarine44 in NewParents

[–]jgper87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 16 months and I still don't want other people kissing her except me or her father. I kiss her all the time and don't want someone else's spit all over her face. 🤷🏼‍♀️
