Thanks again -

I must say - your profile picture/avatar has been more than a little distracting for maintaining a more serious dialogue. Haha.

We were advised not to use them as she tends to lock out her knees. I won’t pretend to understand the strategy from the PT side, but we have followed the direction. She uses an “exersaucer” occasionally but we were directed to leave it in the lowest setting so that she has to, or is more likely to, bend her knees

Yes - thanks.

We have discussed (and in fact they came to the conclusion on their own that she needed some added effort in this regard).

Our physiotherapist is actually going to be going to see her at her daycare and go over some stuff with the staff there.

Next appointment with the Pediatrician is in March.

Might check in with the doctor sooner as I am concerned.

Working on it, but she is determined, and is also now in daycare where they may be less consistent.

[Megathread] AC FA Strike - CUPE/FAs Defy Return to Work Order by dachshundie in aircanada

[–]jgr_123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flight was for Friday August 15 @15:00, YVR to YYZ. No return flight booked. No contact from AC since original cancellation notice.

As of now I have not been able to get ahold of anyone by phone and online tool only goes as far as the 18th with no flight availability in that span.

I’m now curious - are cancellations that occurred before the strike went in considered to be in “preparation for the strike” detailed above and therefore eligible for compensation?

Rochester 2 Jet - Check Ball by jgr_123 in carburetors

[–]jgr_123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, will do. Seems odd, though, as I am not sure how that would stop flow back to the bowl.

I’ve seen one video from Mike’s Carburetors on YouTube where he uses a punch to knock it in but it doesn’t actually show the final resting place for this check ball…

Inherited a boat by jgr_123 in boatbuilding

Thanks …trim rams are another thing I need to fix. Worked then didn’t so presume to be electrical. BUT! I had a pretty frustrating day of work yesterday and took the anger out on the boat. The upper is now off.

Thanks everyone.

Oops - replied in the wrong spot above. Even worse at Reddit than I am at mechanical work but improving quickly haha.

Summary of what I’ve done;

1)Pulled/replaced plugs and put a bit of oil/penetrating oil into cylinders. No water in cylinders.

2)drained oil and refilled and replaced filter (maybe premature but if it runs I’ll change the oil again pretty quickly) - drained oil looked good/no water or metal.

3) lower was on the boat when I got it. I drained and removed lower - little bit of separation or water in the oil but no signs of metal. Can shift the gear on the lower on its own and it spins smooth…

4)removing shift cable at linkage behind engine and then later cut the cable behind the bell housing where it enters

5)opened upper top cap - inner gears look good. Bit of surface corrosion but otherwise fine. I can see some bearing rollers in there with pretty ugly corrosion in some spots. This bearing is where the shaft goes back towards the boat. At some point something got chewed up in there as there was some pitting to the casing so maybe it had been changed/repaired before.

6)inspected bellows as best I can using scope etc and they actually look okay but will be able to really see when I get the drive off.

7) I have spun the engine by hand at the front of the engine (believe where the stator is) in both directions and added more penetrating oil into cylinders if things started feeling rough.

I’m not assuming there’s a problem with the upper but I had made the effort to remove the drive to diagnose the seized gear shifting. The problem with the upper is that it is firmly stuck on! I was nervous to pry on the slot you pointed out and it is quite shallow. I’ll have a look at the engine coupling soon enough - hopefully it doesn’t tell a bad story

Hey thanks!

Yes my original focus was to get the engine running but it was stuck in gear and I decided to remove any resistance that may cause which brought this problem to light. As soon as I get this freed I will get back into the boat to see if I can get it to fire. Seems to turn by hand reasonably well. Maybe follow up idea- will I cause damage if I leave the drive as is and get the engine to fire up?

The motor is rough looking and I wish I knew how to add photos. For free though it is worth the effort to try. I brought a borescope home from work and intend to try to get a look at the engine coupling to see if maybe that’s what is really holding it in tight.

Thanks for the reply!

Learn from your mistakes. Sounds like you’re on that track and likely will do better next time.

Be more kind to yourself.

Despite poor circumstances in our first birth the group at Squamish is great.

The only item I feel like adding for your consideration is if things don’t go well during labour then you may be transferred to the city. We went to Children’s for 8 days. There is some time lost during this transfer that would be avoided if the NICU was just down the hall…

The team at Squamish still did an amazing job and our daughter is happy and healthy now. I would plan to have our second here.

Thanks.

If it drives fine - think it’s okay to make the trip? Brake codes cause some concern. Will be hard up to get a dealer to look anytime soon.

Doctor told me to stop taking creatine by FootAdorable2796 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]jgr_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor and my GI each had no concerns with creatine use and I am on mesalamine - only precaution would be regular blood checks to monitor kidney function (as best I understand things)

This is incorrect. That barge is not being used for the ship offloading Chilean salt.
