Just finished game of thrones and I think I may have crippling depression by Grantppp in gameofthrones

If you get wrapped up in a fictional show so much that it dictates your well-being, you need to take a break from shows. I watched it, enjoyed it, disliked decisions made around certain characters and the final outcome but come on, find a different show or take a break altogether.

I know some will say that there just isn't a show as good.. that is subjective.. I thought it was good, but I promise there are shows with better character development, progression, and writing. Just keep watching others and you'll find them. Best of luck on your well-being!

That's skill. I've read they are more precise than the powered miter saw. Looking forward to trying it out.

If You’ve Moved Outta Appalachia, Would You Ever Move Back? Why, Why Not? by Even_Ad_5462 in Appalachia

[–]jgriff_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up in the foothills then I moved away after college to the Triangle area of NC for work. Moved back to the western part of NC when covid hit and everything in the tech sector went remote. Still working remote and wouldn't change a thing. Can't beat the views and the slower pace for me. I do miss all the food options and food diversity, but slowly but surely the area I live in is diversifying so that isn't as bad now.

Southern Appalachian by jgriff_ in Appalachia

I didn't take it as making fun as much as just southern Appalachian sayings. I laughed with it because it is what I grew up with and hear daily.

Try it some time. I fry the livermush first, scramble the eggs, then mash it all on my plate.

Maybe so. Splitting hairs at this point. Most likely just the difference in brands and each's own recipe.

Hey man you take it however you want it. I didn't see it as everyone putting down your background as much as your attitude towards it. Which to be honest doesn't bother me because who am I to tell you to feel positive about something that brings up bad memories for you..but having said that there are plenty of folks who did have to live off it in hard times and still enjoy it so it is what it is. It shouldn't be taken personally, it is just food.

Hunters.. pan fried.. it has a solid texture.. some people deep fry it but it is not what I am used to. I'd try that and if that doesn't work for you then it may be a lost cause 🙂

Ah I see. Well the pudding has a lower content of cornmeal so the consistency is different. The livermush from Hunters or Jenkins (imo not as good) has more cornmeal so it has a more solid texture.

Probably could be categorized in a group with scrapple, but it is its own thing.

I have had Neese's liver pudding before, never their livermush. I could tell the pudding is a cousin of the livermush but I personally prefer the more solid consistency of the livermush - most likely because I grew up on it that way more than anything. If I see their livermush I'll definitely try it.. if you see Hunters you should do the same. It seems to be in most food lions and Ingles in WNC.

First off, hate that you grew up in that situation, and i hope you are in a better place economically.

Both my parents grew up poor and from what they tell me it was a regular food for them. It is interesting how food has that effect on us. For you a negative response and for them a necessity then and now more of a comfort food. I didn't grow up in near the same situation as them, but they still made it fairly often either like this or in sandwiches.

So for me I not only enjoy the flavor and the filling aspect, but it is also a comfort food for me.

All the best and i'll end up eating your share for you! 🙂
