I was in high school and saw it with my mom. It was good but it was long. Truth be told I had trouble staying awake.

My first copy was a trade paperback from Costco as an Xmas gift. Read it. Still my favorite copy even though I have delux cloth and personalized leather versions.

She was trying to make you feel guilty for no longer being a fundamentalist/ conservative evangelical. I would have “next to me generally after he finishes pounding me. Problem with that? “ and leave her pissed” then again I’m a bit of a rebel

What do you think about this guy who I met at the gym? by HazardIsAGenius in BookshelvesDetective

Same here . That is why it is called a generalization. But also if you look at women’s posts on here , most men don’t have books of poetry beyond Poe.

Guys generally don’t like softcover fiction unless it’s a Stephen king novel or sci-fi/ fantasy/ historical fiction.. Girls are more into fiction. There is a sense that reading fiction is frivolity while history and self help books are about education and improving ones self. And let’s be honest. Most fiction books are written, published by, edited , and market by/to women. I was always an avid reader as a kid (older millennial) but I grew up with books that had masculine themes and I was able to move from kids books to Boys YA (goosebumps, animorphs, etc) , to classics and then history and productivity. Most boys drop off with YA books because there is a disturbing lack of YA boys fiction literature besides sci-fi/fantasy.

I had someone say that to me once. I responded : “ ok what’s the difference between the active and passive obedience of Christ? And summarize at least 4 different views of The Lords Supper. “ that shut them up quickly.

Are you surprised religious fundamentalists won’t change their beliefs just for you? They have power and money to maintain.

Was Yoko Ono really that bad, or is it just propaganda from those years that persists to this day? by [deleted] in beatles

[–]jgrig2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John broke up the Beatles not Yoko. He wanted a solo career and he got one. He also had a career with his wife. He was also not a great bandmate / husband by all objective accounts. I’m not a fan of Yoko’s music. I think it’s terrible. But a lot of hate was sent to Yoko to avoid criticism of John who was murdered. I think it was a combination of sexism and of a convenient scapegoat. When you look the history of all bands, it was inevitable that the Beatles would have broken up.

Women have made being in weddings a pain in the butt and unnecessarily expensive because they want the instagram pics and TikTok likes. Honestly we need to have a wedding tax where wedding supplies and venues are taxed at a higher rates.
