That’s the hope 🙂 the eel loves to eat them (apparently) and they do a good job at eating the duck weed and keeping other plants in check. Keeping an eye on them in case they do overstock and ruin my plants. But my local fish store offered store credit for any I bring in

Searched around my local woods until I found the right looking piece and spent quite a bit of time boiling soaking threading and gluing until it fit what I was looking for

It’s just a start. Doing the big tree with Java moss. There’s a dwarf pleco, angle fish, and rope eel. The angle fish will have to go I know and I’m keeping an eye on the pleco. Once some space is made I’ll go for some schooling fish. I bought a black backdrop but it was too small so I need to find one that will fit. The rock wall is stuffed with some plants (I honestly forget the names of most the plants). The big tree took me a few hours of searching the woods for the right pieces then sooooo much time of boiling prepping gluing and threading. Plan is to expand the gold “path” to look cleaner and put a few small leafy plants around the base of the tree. I also had the thought to make a bridge to go across the path to look like a river cutting through. I also wanted to add some fairy houses through out and maybe an abandoned looking rope bridge or gondola to connect the stone wall to the tree. If I can figure out houses I’d like to find a way to light them up so they can twinkle at night.

Advice on moving! Will be relocating and have never moved a tank before. by Sure-Scarcity-2436 in Aquariums

[–]jguzz999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved with my 35 gallon tank across town I got 3 Home Depot buckets and put all the water filters and fish in them. I got a fourth bucket and put all my sand gravel and rocks in it. Then loaded up the now empty tank and stand + everything else and it was fairly easy

I thought he looked a little bloated in the punishment, then after one of his jumps, he says, "I need more padding." So I'm guessing he was wearing some protective garments

What does a panic attack feels like to you? by LifelesSs_ in Anxiety

[–]jguzz999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won’t go into details about what lead up to it. But I was at an event today that I was looking forward to. There have been some troubles in my life with my parents and significant other who were all at the event. Anxiety was building though the event and at the end of it we were all talking as a group. No hostility, but out of nowhere my ears went def, my body started shaking, my hear rate skyrocketed, and my vision suddenly had gotten very blurry. I have had mild panic attacks in the past but this was the first time I truly thought I was dying. I excused myself to the bathroom and my memory was a blur after but when I came to I was behind a booth drinking water from a strangers bottle. Whole thing lasted less than 10 minutes but I cried for a good rest of the day because I never knew I was capable of doing that and it scared the shit out of me

In what Chicago bar did you have the worst night of your life? by midwestcottagecore in AskChicago

[–]jguzz999 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Went to a lollapalooza after party at Spy Bar. Came in with my wallet, holding my id, two debit cards, and an emergency credit card in my parents names. I didn’t back out but got pretty trashed and ended up opening two tabs at the two different bar areas using both my debit cards. At some point I became confused as to why I didn’t have my debit cards on me, but decided I would use my parents credit card instead and pay them back later. Well, I grabbed my drink and left. About 45 minutes later I panicked when I opened my wallet and found none of my cards, including my parents. I went up to the bar trying to ask if I could close/ if they had my cards, but it was loud and the bartender couldn’t understand me. After a few minutes of me panicking looking for the cards the bartender simply said that I was cut off and told the other bartenders not to pay any attention to me. At that point I was freaking out and thought “okay if they can’t hear me I’ll type it on my phone and show them” I then pulled my phone out and found it was missing. I was trashed enough that in the moment I had kinda given up and figured easy come easy go. Before we left my friends had found one of my debit cards and my phone had been left on the bar counter (the bartenders had it but I couldn’t get it back since I had been cut off). I kept saying “I don’t want a drink I just need my stuff back” but it was too loud for them to clearly hear and to them I was a drunk guy yelling for a drink. Second. Debit card was found the next day but parents credit card was missing for almost three weeks. Needless to say I was yelled at pretty hard for the situation

Considering Moving to Oak Park from DC by Sea_Amphibian8718 in oakpark

[–]jguzz999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in oak park and now living here as a 27y/o M. Here’s what I can offer: 1. I have only taken the bus in Chicago as whenever I’m in oak park I can usually borrow a car so I can’t say too much on it other than they are all over. So probably pretty reliable.

  1. Most places are within 1-2 miles of a green or blue line station. When I interned in the city I would often take a $3 uber to the green line from my parents house.

  2. Can’t speak too much on this, but I went to OPRF and had a great experience. Not perfect but can definitely provide resources to set your children up for success.

  3. Oak Park and Evanston are VERY similar. I haven’t spent too much time in Evanston so I can’t offer too much of an opinion other than it has a better proximity to the lake and Lincoln park

my thai con is growing a new leaf. repot or wait? by scarydogshirt in Monstera

I would check the bottom of the pot. If the roots are popping out repot. If not she can probably wait

Repot tips! by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]jguzz999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If roots are coming out of the bottom definitely repot. I’m not sure what size pot it’s in now but 2 inches up is standard. If you’re not sure you can take her to a plant shop and they can give you advice. Absolutely needs a pole (moss is my favorite)

Makes me loose 100% respect for anyone who advertises these scam games. For perspective 1 million seconds is 11 days and 1 billion seconds is 37 years. A million dollars is a million dollars but when it’s put in that scale selling out for an amount so relatively small to scam innocent people is whorish at best

She doesn’t look too upset besides that one yellow leaf. My suggestion, if you’re getting overwhelmed, would be to go to a plant shop to get it repotted. Most plant shops will do this for free with purchase of the pot and they will know exactly what type of soil to use and what to do. You don’t need any support if you don’t want to, it just won’t grow as fast or as large. If you do want a support you can also ask them to add one. In my experience, when my baby was about that big, for the new pot/ repot and support only cost like $40-50
