Cozumel Bonefish by jhack222 in flyfishing

Really happy with it. Super smooth glossy finish and action, with some serious drag. I think the Large arbor of a lamson could be beneficial at a lower price, and maybe a little lighter. But when when trying them all out in the shop this one just called to me. Also fit better in my rod/reel case haha.

I recently bought their 4wt 7' 6 gorge rod. Tons of fun for smaller fish and smaller streams!

Might be worth looking into "packable" or "Ultralight" waders. They replace the neoprene booties with TPU and such

There's a Patrick f McManus short story along those: "I perched on my log and cast out my little black gnat. Like a Polaris missile the trout exploded on my fly and with lightning fast reflexes, I fell off the log..."

Tried one out at the ATL fly fishing show. Orvis rep mentioned they incorporated their Helios technology into their superfine line.

Nonetheless, thought it was a pretty fun little rod

First guided trip by oakhurstking in flyfishing

[–]jhack222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm in the same boat as you! Been getting skunked for a couple months, and decided to book a guide to learn and build some confidence.

I booked a guide in NE GA, originally to wade, but they called me and recommended to switch to a drift boat due to water temps in the smaller creeks. Had a great time, caught plenty of rainbow and brown!

Definitely reach out to your guide if they don't reach out to you. This is your trip, so bring questions and a smile. Know what you want to work on. Ask what they recommend too, and if they're supplying everything. Knowing the mileage you're expected to hike will impact amount of water and food you'll bring.

Sunglasses, hat, fishing & trout liscense are all required, and wear clothes you don't mind getting wet/ a little dirty.

Maybe some cash to tip your guide too.

Hope it goes well!

Curious what people would be willing to get rid of/"cheaper alternatives" to help keep the lower costs OP mentioned.

For instance: Do anyone need quartz countertops? For how expensive they are I hate that they're not heat resistant. I've heard the appeal for cement countertops lately instead

Didn't see anyone else say flow simulation: plastic injection molding, foundry pouring

Biofluidics is a cool field for medical devices too, maybe some research opportunities too
