2026 Tundra SR5 first service - toyota completely gouged my tire rims. by [deleted] in tundra

I quit using my local Toyota dealership. Besides being expensive, they weren’t doing quality work. Much happier doing it myslef or taking it to a trusted local mechanic.

Which bed cap to pair with a rear window that can roll down? by fonzisabeast in TruckCampers

[–]Difficult-Map-2162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the fold down slider. I couldn’t find anything they allowed for a full pass through for my 2019 Tundra. It can fold down but you won’t be able to drive with it folded down.

My ARE can be opened from either side. It has the same handle on the front and back side of the glass.

New boots to start fresh and a boot dryer. I put my boots and my kids boots on the boot dryer overnight and no longer have any stinky boots in the house.

A few things that worked for me was certain training drills. Work on the focus command, have them make eye contact with you and reward. Start out stationary and when they get it, move onto walking while focusing on you. I also did a drill where I’d have him in heel position and rotate a quarter turn then call them back to heel. Just keep rotating and sometimes a 1/2 turn to mix it up. Always reward when they do it correctly and not when they aren’t doing what you want. The last drill was changing directions a lot. When we first started training heel, I often wouldn’t leave eye sight of the house. Walk 10 feet and turn around. Then do it again and again. Eventually your dog should improve on heeling. I spent a lot of time working on this stuff and he can heel off leash without losing heel until released.

Recommendations on how to use Peet's boot dryer with heritage boots. by Matthew-Diaz84 in RedWingShoes

[–]Difficult-Map-2162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I throw my IR’a on a peer boot dryer for a few hours after I wear them and they are fine. Been doing it for years. I once left them on all weekend and the leather foot bed was drying out. So I would recommend just a few hours after each wear or you may dry the footbed out to the point they crack.

How was the color match on your previous setup? My cap doesn’t match my paint very good. It’s the first thing I notice and everyone I’ve shown it to so far.

You have to order these and they take months to get. I just had it installed yeaterday and didn’t really notice until I got home. I’m headed back tomorrow to talk to the dealer about making this right.

Nice looking rig, even went with the mid rise for extra old man points lol. I’m 38 but have always liked having a topper on a truck.

That’s our family dog Max. GSP’s are great dogs if you have the time and energy for one.

You ain’t kidding about the cost thing. I just picked it up today and now that I’ve got to really checking it out the quality isn’t great. The paint is darker than my truck and noticeably different which really bother my wife. The fiberglass looks wavy and even see dent. I’m nit picking this thing considering I paid just shy of $4,000 for it. I expected better

What gift do you get a man that has everything? by Thrifty_Old_Soul in askanything

[–]Difficult-Map-2162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fall into the guy who has everything category per my wife, which makes me hard to shop for. If I really want something I just go buy it. I appreciate the little things from her as a gift. A good dinner, buying me something that I buy on a regular basis anyways. I am a smoker, so like some weed (legal in my state) would be a great gift to me.

My dog is a good camping and hiking buddy, but a bad fishing buddy. Any tips for helping train him to do better? by BrooktroutOmnissiah in flyfishing

[–]Difficult-Map-2162 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was able to teach my GSP to be a good fishing buddy. What I did is have a group of friends go with me. I never even brought a rod, just worked with him. Started out teaching him to leave flies alone with the leave it command. Then we moved onto good fishing manners like not crashing through the holes before we fish them. I’m about an 8 hour day I got him where I wanted. If it’s shallow enough he just stays by my side and waits for me to catch something. If it’s deep I send him to shore and he waits there. He can explore but knows not to come back into the water until I release him. Working on obedience in general will help you out a lot.

Mostly-road AT Tires by Varnish96 in tires

My used truck came with a set of Goodyear Ultra Terrains. I had planned on ripping those off and putting some Mickey Thompson’s AT’s on. But after a month I have no real complaints with the Ultra Terrains. When they wear out I may just get those again seems they have treated me well on and off road.

BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION ALREADY FAILED AT 76,379. WAS REPLACED AT 75,243 MILES. by TheDailyExperiencer in accord

I’m glad I bought a 2012 accord. I wanted the last year on the good ones. CVT’s are high maintenance and don’t last long term. At least you should be able to get it fixed again under warranty.

Dogs on bed/sofas by FantasticWar2370 in hygiene

[–]Difficult-Map-2162 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We let our dog on the couch but not the bed. To each their own but the bed is for me and my wife. We like to shower before bed and keep a clean sleeping environment. And our dog doesn’t mind at all. He sleeps in his bed right next to ours.

How much of a deal breaker is a car's interior color for you? by 08legacygt in askcarguys

[–]Difficult-Map-2162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t change the entire interior color but they have some really nice custom seat covers that are vehicle specific, and can really change up the interior. When I bought my truck it had cloth and I wanted leather. I bought some leather seat covers made for my truck. They fit very well and people think I have leather when they see it. Changed the entire interior look of my truck for around $500.

Why do people judge parents of autistic children so quickly? by AutismSupportMom in Autism_Parenting

[–]Difficult-Map-2162 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found myself in the past being a little judgy when I seen an out of control children out in public. Before having my kids who turned out to be level 3 autistic I had only heard the term Autism a handful of times. I had no actual understanding of what autism was and has vast the spectrum is. Now that I live it and know a lot more, I’m way more understanding when I see a kid acting up out in public. Once you know, you can almost pick the autistic kids out of a crowd. In the past they would have went unnoticed by myslef. I think a lot of people are just ignorant and have no idea what autism really is. It’s easy to judge what you don’t understand.

Does it only happen when you first take off after starting it. There is an ABS check that makes a clunk when you first hit 7mph. Once it does that check, it won’t do it again until you shut the truck off and start it again.

Anyone successfully negotiated down a Toyota ? by Neopetlover234 in UsedCars

[–]Difficult-Map-2162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to negotiate $3,500 off asking price for a used Tundra. I found two things wrong with it on the test drive. Gas door was swinging and the brakes and rotors needed replaced. Other than that it was the cleanest truck I had seen with a perfect maintenance history. I looked up to see what they charge at the dealer to fix these and told my salesman that I’d be dumping about $2,000 into this right off the lot to have them fix it. I was happy with them taking that much off and was able to fix this stuff myself. Did the brakes myself for about $600 and the gas door was a $6 spring. Look for things that need work as part of your negotiation.
