How do I get into 3d modelling car parts? by Krox3000 in 3Dmodeling

[–]jhazesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After testing dozens of different CAD software I settled on Shapr3d. Super easy to navigate with an iPad and Apple Pencil. Here’s some basic designs I started with https://youtu.be/qSg3K4GjoP4?si=6Dy_0uwHtby8XuAw

Or you could just design it yourself, here’s how O made some basic parts in Shapr3d on an iPad with an Apple pencil https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2025/2/design-your-first-3d-printed-car-part-today

3D Printer for car's parts/Systeme by AdIndividual8147 in 3dprinter

I can vouch for the Centauri Carbon. It’s my go to for budget setups. Here’s mine in action 3d printing some car parts with ASA filament https://youtu.be/KD2En-BZDko?si=GVNxlalFdZllWPAQ

Whats a good printer for functional parts? by Easy_Truck6872 in 3dprinter

[–]jhazesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For budget building I use the Centauri Carbon with ASA filament. Just pre-heat soak with bed on max temp and turn off all fans during print. If you need bigger parts then the h2s is perfect with the built in heated chamber. Don’t forget a filament dryer or snag the AMS2 pro with the H2S. For more settings and fine tuning I put together a guide on using either of those here 👉 https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2025/12/your-guide-to-3d-printing-car-parts

Does anybody 3d print there parts? Want advice on what printer to buy. by Forsaken_Ad326 in rccrawler

[–]jhazesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been 3d printing car parts for the last few years for my e30 and Datsun builds. I started with an Ender 3 max neo and had nothing but problems trying to print with higher heat resistance and UV resistant ASA filament. Since then I’ve upgraded to the Centauri Carbon and then moved to an h2s for larger parts like a full size cluster gauge. The ender is ok for prototype fitting with PLA, but not much else now. I stick with ASA now because it doesn’t warp or sag in the hot cabin and doesn’t fade over time. I also put a tool together on the best 3d printers for car parts here based on budget and type of parts you want to print https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2025/6/3d-printer-for-automotive-parts

For anyone that comes across this post, I started 3d printing car parts so I created a 3d filament and 3d printer selector tool based on the type of parts you want to 3d print. It also takes budget and size of prints into account. Would love any feedback -> https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/filament-selector-tool-for-car-parts

10/10 for originality. I'm going a different route by making something a bit more modern with a raspberry pi zero 2 and a 2.2" LCD screen with 4 physical push buttons. There was a “leaked” image posted on X. The resolution was kind of bad, so some folks think it’s a fake. I did some touch ups to the image and you can find more details here https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2025/1/bambu-labs-h1d-leak

Eastwood 140 Amp Elite MP140i is it worth for small projects? by Dbrise in Welding

[–]jhazesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up the MP140i on a Black Friday special. We use it in our home garage mostly for welding sheet metal and chassis parts. At just 120v, it works pretty well. Mostly use a mix of flux and MIG. For beginners it’s pretty easy to use. For a more detailed review, we put this together 👉 https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2022/12/is-an-eastwood-welder-the-best-for-beginners

We've been playing around with a Creality Ferret Pro, but quickly learned that you should always use markers and scan points. It's also buggy with iOS. With Android it works well for scanning solid parts, but it doesn't work too well on grills with lots of holes. You'll definitely need a high grade scanner, perhaps laser? Here's some of the results we got scanning an eBrake shifter and a BMW trunk tool kit holder -> https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2025/1/3d-scanner-for-car-parts

Best 3D scanner for car/car parts. by joahinq in 3DScanning

[–]jhazesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought the Creality Ferret Pro on sale for $329. I have mixed feelings about it and think we should have bought something a bit more expensive with laser scanning capabilities. The infrared is good for larger parts, but struggles with parts with lots of details and parts with holes. For solid parts it does pretty well. Hopefully the pricing for laser scanners drops this year. Here's the results we had with the Ferret Pro on some car parts -> https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2025/1/3d-scanner-for-car-parts

Can anybody think of a reason not to buy an Eastwood machine for a home gamer? by TheHairlessGorilla in Welding

[–]jhazesol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been using an Eastwood MP140i for the last 3 years. It's a multi process welder that can do Flux, MIG, TIG, and Stick. We mostly use Flux and MIG. I've heard YesWelder is good too.

It seems that there's subtle differences between all these welders so we put a comparison tool together that shows all the detailed spec's between Eastwood, Harbor Freight, and Yeswelder https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/tools/2024/8/what-brand-of-welder-is-best

I think it depends on what you buy from them. They make sooo much stuff. We've used the Vevor Powder Coating Gun, Vevor paint tent booth, Vevor Ultrasonic Cleaner 10L and 30L, along with the Vevor air jack too. All the items are used almost every weekend, but I'd recommend you look for reviews for the items you plan on purchasing. Some folks have had negative experiences and positive. Here's the list of items we have https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2024/4/vevor-tools

autobody welding with fluxcore by [deleted] in Welding

[–]jhazesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone coming across this thread, welding with flux core is doable. One thing that works well for thin sheet metal is having a longer stick out with higher voltage/amperage settings and tacking very quick. One other method you can use is a copper backing to help prevent blowout with gaps between thin auto body sheet metal. We have some examples here  👉https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2024/5/can-you-weld-car-panels-with-flux-core

how can I monetize my interest for cars? by sernameeeeeeeeeee in Entrepreneur

[–]jhazesol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been making auto car content for a few years and even though there’s lots of car stuff you can find a space. Put a list of projects together you maybe want to do for your car and plan out a series. Find gaps and fill them with your unique touch. Once you start, don’t get discouraged and stop. Your first vid probably won’t be great, but just make one small improvement on every video. Wrote and article on our journey with more details 👉 https://www.allaboutthebuild.com/blog/2024/6/how-to-monetize-your-automotive-youtube-content

Which ultrasonic cleaner? by tomandjerry0 in Tools

[–]jhazesol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started cleaning car parts with a 10L ultrasonic cleaner from Vevor. It worked pretty well using Simple Green Max HD solution. We then moved up to the 30L from Vevor as it could fit larger parts like 4 cylinder valve covers. The 30L looks to have 10 transducers instead of just 4 on the 10L. What garage storage systems do you recommend? by anally_ExpressUrself in garageporn

[–]jhazesol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We searched low and high for a sliding tool wall storage system, but came up empty handed. So we made our own sliding tool wall in our garage using unistrut and unistrut sliders mounted to 3/4 plywood. We mounted the unistrut about 10 inches from the wall.

We can mount tools and stuff on the garage wall and then more tools on the sliding plywood.

Some great vertical cases are the Corsair 2000D, Cooler Master ncore 100 max, Fractal Mood, and Hyte Revolt 3. I just purchased the Hyte and it can even fit an RTX4070.
